Week 2 Recap
WAKE UP - Stop hiding
Psalm 139:8–9 ESV
If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
Psalm 139:10 ESV
even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.
From There to here....
Psalm 139:11 ESV
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,”
Surely the darkness
Cover: Grip hard
When David refers to "darkness," he is speaking metaphorically, conveying a sense of obscurity, concealment, or the unknown.
In a broader sense, "darkness" in the Bible often symbolizes a state of being distant from God, lacking in spiritual insight, or being in a situation of distress or uncertainty.
Psalm 139:12 ESV
even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.
This verse hit me different!
This is the moment when darkness could mean distress!
With distress comes fear / doubt / worry / stress
But… the unknown, is not dark to God.
Psalm 139:13 ESV
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
“You Formed”
Formed: to create v. — to bring into existence.
“You Knitted”
Knitted: To weave, shape, interweave
God was detailed in his craftsmanship in forming our body and personality.
I am knitted together with resiliency
Tenacity - The quality of being very determined and persistent.
Fortitude - Strength of mind that enables a person to encounter adversity with courage.
Grit - Courage and resolve; strength of character.
Endurance - The ability to withstand hardship or adversity, especially the ability to sustain a prolonged stressful effort or activity.
Sturdiness - The property of being strong and robust.
Toughness - The quality of being strong and durable under stress.
Perseverance - Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.
Adaptability - Being able to adjust to new conditions.
Elasticity - The ability to recover from or adjust easily to change or misfortune.
Flexibility - Willingness to change or compromise; also the ability to bend without breaking.
Stamina - The ability to sustain prolonged physical or mental effort.
Determination - Firmness of purpose; resoluteness.
Vitality - The capacity for survival or for the continuation of a meaningful or purposeful existence.
Buoyancy - The ability to recover quickly from depression or discouragement
But God knitted me with these qualities...
God is invested in me!
Not so I can take all the credit!
Psalm 139:14 ESV
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
I Praise You: to thank v. — to express gratitude or show appreciation to (someone).
Fearfully: The word "fearfully" here implies a sense of reverence or awe.
It signifies an acknowledgment of God's creation.
Wonderfully: David's declaration that he is "wonderfully made" reflects a sense of amazement at the intricacy of human life and the perfection of God's works.
“Wonderful are your works”
You can’t appreciate God works if you don’t appreciate yourself!
Love your neighbor as yourself!
My soul knows it very well!
Soul: Mind / Will / Emotions
WAKE UP!!!!!!
Tell yourself......
You formed me.....
You knitted me together....
I am your workmanship…
but David never said I will post ME!
David said… “I Praise You”
David said I can’t comprehend how you know everything about me but still love me…
Then David said I have to praise you cause I am the product of your craftsmanship
But not just me.... I am praising you because of your wonderful works that all around me!
