The horrible imagery

points to real people and events of Israel’s history,

but for us, the basic message is enough:

God will protect and rescue his people

from the earthly kingdoms that attack them,

despite their awful power to oppress.

Response

Praise God always and in every way.

Here, the beasts praise God,

rather than oppose Him

& harass his people.

Gospel

Previous verses describe the events that will mark the end.

But when you see them,

know that the kingdom of God

(your deliverance)

is near.

Advent

is also near

not only our deliverance,

but our deliverer is near.
