What Does Church Membership Entail?

Church membership duties can be divided into two subcategories. Duties to other members and duties to the pastor.
The church is to live in a way that shows the world that we belong to a new King and kingdom. A kingdom of holiness, righteousness, justice, love, mercy, and grace. We show this by how we treat one another. Ignoring each other till the next service, forgetting to pray daily for one another is a great way to quench this. (seek peace and unity 1 cor 12:13-27).
The pastors are to be regarded with honor. This afternoon at 2:30 we will discuss the role of the pastor and how the church and pastors are co laborers.
1 Corinthians 3:9 KJV 1900
For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.
In Action—Initially by Baptism
Acts 2:41 KJV 1900
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
If you will not step out by faith to be baptized after salvation then you cannot be called a disciple of Jesus.
Matthew 28:18–20 KJV 1900
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

1. Attend Services Regularly

Hebrews 10:25 KJV 1900
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

2. Attend Communion Particularly

Luke 22:19 KJV 1900
And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
Attending the Lord’s Table is ment to be a reminder of Christ’s suffering as the payment for the covenant between God and man. If you are saved this is to be a time of recommitment to your Savior.

3. Attend Members’ Meetings Consistently

4. Pray Regularly

1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV 1900
Pray without ceasing.
James 5:16 KJV 1900
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
If you are a member at Faithway, you should have recieved an email invite to our Breeze account. This will have a list of all the members, you can select what info others see, this can become a prayer list. If you did not please let us know.

5. Give Regularly

Proverbs 3:9 KJV 1900
Honour the Lord with thy substance, And with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
1 Corinthians 16:1–2 KJV 1900
Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
2 Corinthians 9:7 KJV 1900
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

6. Evangelize Regularly

Mark 16:15 KJV 1900
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
John 17:18 KJV 1900
As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
If the church were a building it would need bricks. Since the church is a body, it needs members. Active members that strive for unity, peace, and continual effort in praising God, edifying one another, and reaching the lost.
