When we give our lives to Christ its not like, Life is perfect and we no longer able to sin.
and it is possible to walk away from God, The Christian term for that is “Backsliding” This is where a person is no longer walking with God, but following their own flesh.
Maybe you have been there, maybe you still are.
rollorcoster story
There was a time that I fell away.
Story of falling drinking and partying as a 2 yo.
It was because of Jesus that I was able to comeback and receive forgiveness, and rekindle that relationship.
But lets look at a biblical account of being lost and then found.
Set up the parable
“But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.
Jesus came to earth was born so that what this parables message can be true.
The son walked away from his father to pursue a life full of selfishness and the world
Maybe there is some people hearing that right now and feeling like they can relate
Maybe it’s not like you walked all the way away
but made compromises that little by little is taking you away from Christ.
Lets look at the first few hours of Christ’s life
The Shepherds, these men were not what the nativity shows
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
One should not romanticize the occupation of shepherds. In general shepherds were dishonest and unclean according to the standards of the law.
the Shepherds did not start their lives thinking that they wanted to be dishonest .
They walked away from what they knew to be right and followed their own desires
They were the first ones to see Jesus
In fact they had a royal invitation to come see Him
In the moment they got to see the redemption of mankind
The reason the Prodigal son’s story is so amazing is that it shares the heart of God.
The Heart of God is for us to come to know Him, and come home
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
He wants you to comeback to Him. The shepherds were lost and needed a savior, and they found Him
The son shows an earthly depiction of what happens when we comeback into a relationship with Him.
So right now, if you are like the son and walked away, its time to come home
Its time to come out of the life you are in, and run home to the father that is waiting for you.
That life is empty and there is nothing good about it, I know
If you are taking little steps and little by little walking away from God, it’s time to stop and take giant leaps back to Him.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
We read the Parable and think, man that kid is so blind to the reality of what to do, But Sin does that to us, it blinds us, and makes it so we can not see how far we have really fallen away.
It’s Time to come home
