Titus Chapter 2
Titus Chapter 2
QafghsrtYou are not saved because you are good, you are good because you are saved.
Regeneration, washed by the Word of God.
Intro:
The Bible is a book that tells us how to live. It is the height of hypocrisy to say that we believe its truth if we ignore how it tells us to live our lives. We don’t always like it, but we always need to hear how God expects us to live.
The command to teach these things means that they do not come automatically come with age.
Chapter 1 ends with legalism and fables, they were teaching you can’t be saved unless you are circumcised, and follow the law. But Titus is to teach those things that are proper for sound doctrine:
Careful to consider all circumstances and possible consequences.
Sound Doctrine; to have sound health, that is, be well (in body); figuratively to be uncorrupt (true in doctrine): - be in health, (be safe and) sound, (be) whole (-some).
Grave: venerable, that is, honorable: - grave, honest.
Rev. 12:10 the accuser of the brethren / slander
Watch out for people who say you can’t be saved unless you are baptized in Jesus name only. That is a lie, or study with the Jehovah’s witness’s that’s not true.
Or you must speak in tongues to be saved, not true. Jesus said I am the way, The truth and The life, no man comes to the Father but through or by me.
In order to change wrong behavior, you must first change wrong thinking.
The idea behind this phrase has to do with right living, not just right thinking. The Living Bible translates this “Speak up for the right living that goes along with true Christianity.” The New Living Translation has “Promote the kind of living that reflects right teaching.”
Matthew 28:19-20
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
