Luke 11:1-4

-As we think of kingdoms we may think of those great kingdoms of the past, I mean great by size and power. Perhaps like Babylon, or Rome, Russia, British Empire, the thing about all of these kingdoms is that they don’t last, they are not all that powerful
Psalm 145:13 ESV
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations. The Lord is faithful in all his words and kind in all his works.
-Why do we pray Your kingdom come and what are we asking?
Two things:
-that the sovereign rule of God would increase in our lives, meaning that we would recognize and desire for the sovereign rule of God
-that those who are still dead in their sins, would be enlightened and brought into the kingdom of God
Colossians 1:13 ESV
13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son,
-Why would we pray for this? Because we live in a world and culture that teaches something different: that you are to seek your own kingdom
-When we pray for His kingdom to come then it should affect:
-how we view our circumstances
-how we treat one another
-What are we really praying for?
-that the gospel would go forth
John 3:3 ESV
3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
-that we would increase in our submission to the sovereignty of God
