Remember Hope
Remember Hope
Today starts advent which in Christian history marks a time that we both remember what has been and look to what will be.
There are 4 things we look at during this time and the first one is hope.
Hope is also a word that can have slightly varying application depending on the context.
To hope for, expect, or anticipate is the most common meaning.
I.We have a certain hope because Christ came to fulfill all things.
a. Fulfill past prophecies of the coming Messiah
b. fulfill present promises of salvation to those who call upon Him.
c. fulfill future promises that He has made of the Kingdom of God
A lot of times hope references things that are uncertain but wished for.
You may hope you get a certain gift for Christmas, but there is uncertainty that you will.
The hope of Christ is certain because it is backed by His perfection!!
Every hope outside of hope in God’s promises is subject to fail. God cannot lie and cannot fail!
The hope of salvation is certain because it is promised by the Father, performed by the Son, and preserved by the Spirit!
