Intro

the pinnacle of the consumers of following God
one who recognizes God so many times and yet still only acknowledges him when it makes him look good

Dreams

a king and conqueror with all that the world has to offer
he has everything he could want and still he has troubles
like an eccentric king, he gives a ridiculous command
Daniel interprets the dream and God is glorified and his servants prosper

Statues

but in the very next line, Nebuchadnezzar builds a statue about how great he is
he demands worship of it and himself
God is with those who refuse

Beasts

finally Nebuchadnezzar looks over all that he has control over and thinks of how great he is
God makes him like one of the beasts for a complete amount of time
God is able to humble the proud

Application

we can say the most wonderful things
be surrounded by the work that God is doing for good in his creation
and still only follow him when it makes me look good
still only give of myself for his sake when people are watching or when I have been brought low
don’t be a Christian just when the weather is right
don’t think for some reason your greatness is anything compared to God
