Moses- Didn’t feel like he was the guy to lead God’s people out of Egypt.
Gideon felt like his story didn’t matter and was hiding from the enemy. He felt like the least of the least.
I’m sure the widow who gave her last mite felt like her giving was insignificant…BUT GOD
Matthew 26:6–13 “And when Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table. But when His disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste? For this fragrant oil might have been sold for much and given to the poor.” But when Jesus was aware of it, He said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a good work for Me. For you have the poor with you always, but Me you do not have always. For in pouring this fragrant oil on My body, she did it for My burial. Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.””
People can look at your life and say “What a waste!”
People have judged you
You have judged yourself.
The church may have hurt you
You may feel like your life and your story don’t matter, but they do!
John Waller- Stephen Curtis Chapman- us
You have impacted the lives of people that you will never know about. There will be people in heaven who come up to you and say thank you for your obedience.
People that you touched, encouraged, blessed, cooked a meal for, paid for their gas, shoes, bus trip..people you smiled at and saw that others looked quickly away from. People that you took the time to pray for and speak truth to.
But Curtis my life is in tatters. I’ve been running from God. I’ve been wallowing in my pain. I don’t know how to move out of this pit of depression and the darkness I’ve found myself in!
How can my life matter?!
Let me tell you. Even if you life is in tatters, you and your story matter...
Because you and your story matter to Jesus.
Genesis 50:20 “But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.”
Genesis 13:14–15 “And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever.”
Psalm 24:7–9 “Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in.”
John 16:32–33 “Indeed the hour is coming, yes, has now come, that you will be scattered, each to his own, and will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.””
John 17:1 “Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You,”
