12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
(Lesson 2)
Introduction…For years there has been much discussion about what constitutes being saved.
“Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Acts 2:21).
Do we receive salvation by simply speaking the Lord’s name? If so, how does it harmonize with:
Mat.7:21 – Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Luk.6:46 – Why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
2Tim.2:19 – Let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
Some say were saved by:
Grace – “For by grace are ye saved through faith” (Eph.2:8).
Believing – “For if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins” (Joh.8:24).
Confessing – “With the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Rom.10:10).
Repentance – “Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Lk.13:3).
Baptism – “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved” (Mk.16:16).
Holy Ghost – “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (Jn.3:3).
Which one is right? Eternity is too long to be wrong!
¿Cuál es la correcta?
A sign at a Sky Diving Club: “If our parachutes don’t open your next jump is free.”
We must get it right the first time.
“Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” (Phil.2:12).
The fact is, true Bible salvation involves more than just uttering the name of the Lord!
The Bible contains verse after verse that harmonizes perfectly to help us understand the process by which we are saved.
Todas dicen proceso
The many notes that sound out salvation are not identical, yet together they reveal the full glory of truth in a mighty crescendo.
Suppose a man who cannot swim falls overboard and his friend throws him a lifeline and pulls him to safety. Who or what saved the drowning man? His friend, the lifeline, the life preserver, the boat, or did the man save himself?
The answer is, his friend, the lifeline, the life preserver, the boat, and he also saved himself.
That is the way it is with salvation – many things go into our “being saved.”
We would be foolish to take one aspect of salvation and base our whole experience on it!
In scripture 7 is a very important number – it symbolizes completeness and wholeness:
Creation was finished on the 6th day and on the 7th He rested (Gen.2:2).
In the Tabernacle the priests sprinkled blood 7 times before the Lord (Lev.4:6).
At Jericho 7 priests which bore 7 trumpets on the 7th day compassed the city 7 times (Jos.6:4).
Naaman dipped 7 times in the Jordan (2Ki.5:10).
David said, “Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments” (Ps.119:164).
“Seven times the just man riseth after falling” (Pro.24:16).
In Revelation there are 7 churches, 7 spirits before the throne, 7 golden candlesticks, 7 stars, 7 lamps, 7 years of tribulation, 7 seals, 7 horns, 7 eyes, 7 angels, 7 trumpets, 7 thunders, 7 heads, 7 crowns, 7 plagues, 7 vials, 7 kings.
When it comes to salvation there are 7 steps – all of them are important.
El Primer paso
I. Saved By Grace… Salvada por gracia
Grace: The undeserved favor of God; a state of reconciliation with God.
GRACE stands for, “Great Redemption At Christ’s Expense”.
Rom.3:23 – All have sinned and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
Tit.2:11 – For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared unto all men.
Eph.2:15 – Even when we were dead in sins, hath he quickened us together with Christ; for by grace ye are saved.
We cannot be saved without the grace of God.
The unmerited favor of God gives us the privilege of being saved but we’re not saved by grace alone.

Eph.2:8 – For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves.
II. Saved By Faith… salvo por fe
Faith – Confidence or trust; spiritual acceptance of truth; belief in God.
Eph.2:8 – For by grace are ye saved through faith.
1Pet.1:9 – Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
To be saved we must have faith in God.
Heb.11:6 – But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Mk.16:16 – He that believeth not shall be damned.
Jam.2:19-20 – Thou believest there is one God; thou doest well, the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
We are not saved by just believing.
The devil believes but is not saved. El diablo cree pero no se salva.
There is more to salvation than just believing.
When Phillip preached in Samaria (Acts 8:12), they believed but still had to be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost.
Rom.10:10 – With the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

III. Saved By Confession… Salvada por la confesión
Confession – To disclose sins or faults to God; to unburden the conscience and acknowledge guilt, wrong-doing, or sinfulness; to admit to sinful deeds.
Rom.10:10 – With the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
“Confession is good for the soul.”
You ought to make a list of things in your life that do not please God.
1Jn.1:9 – If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Jam.5:16 – Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed.
Confession involves being transparent and honest.
But it takes more than just confession.

Pro.28:13 – He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whosoever confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
IV. Saved By Repentance… Salvada por el arrepentimiento
Repentance – To change one’s mind; to turn around; to forsake sin; to make an
about face.
Pro.28:13 – Whoso confesseth and forsaketh his sins shall have mercy.
It is not enough to merely confess our sins. We must turn from sin to be saved.
2Cor.7:10 – For Godly sorrow worketh repentance unto salvation.
Luk.13:3 – Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
2Pet.3:9 – The Lord is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Repentance is more than being sorry for your sins.
It involves a lifestyle change.
We must not stop here.
No debemos detenernos aquí.

Acts 2:38 – Then Peter said unto them, repent, and be baptized everyone of you.
Entonces Pedro les dijo: Arrepentíos y bautícese cada uno de vosotros.
V. Saved By Baptism… salvado por el bautismo
Baptism – To dip, plunge, or submerse; a religious ceremony signifying spiritual
purification by immersion in water.
Acts 2:38 – Then Peter said unto them, repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.
1Pet.3:21 – Baptism doth also now save us.
Mk.16:16 – He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.
It is not only important that you are baptized, but how you are baptized.
No sólo es importante que seas bautizado, sino cómo eres bautizado.
Mat.28:19 – Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 8:16 – They were baptized in the name of the Lord.
Acts 10:48 – And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.
Acts 22:16 – And why tarriest thou? Arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
Acts 10:43 – Through His name whosoever believeth on him shall receive remission of sins.
Luk.24:47 – Remission of sins should be preached in his name.
And yet baptism alone is not enough.

Acts 2:38 – Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
VI. Saved By The Holy Ghost… salvado por el espíritu santo
Holy Ghost – Spirit of Christ; the Comforter Jesus promised to send back in his
Name; the indwelling power in the life of a believer.
You cannot be saved without the Holy Ghost.
John 3:3-7 - You must be born of the water and the spirit.
Rom.8:8 – If any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Rom.8:14 – As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
1Cor.12:3 – No man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
1Cor.12:13 – For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body.
How do you know you have received the Holy Ghost?
The initial evidence is you will speak in other tongues as the spirit gives utterance (Acts 2:1-4).
Acts 10:44 – While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the Word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.
Acts 19:1–6 “1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, 2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. 3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. 4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.”
But it takes more than the Holy Ghost

cuarenta
Acts 2:40 – And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
VII. Saved By Endurance… salvado por la resistencia
Endurance – The act, quality, or power of withstanding hardship; the state or
fact of persevering; continuing existence.
The writer of Hebrews referred to the Christian life as a race.
Heb.12:1 – Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.
To finish this race, we have to keep running.
It is not enough to start the race by having faith, confessing and forsaking sin, being baptized and receiving the Holy Ghost.
We must continue on with the Lord:
Mat.10:22 – He that endureth to the end shall be saved.
Mat.24:13 – But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
2Tim.2:3 – Endure hardness as a good solider of Jesus Christ
Heb.12:7 – If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as sons.
Jam.1:12 – Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive a crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Endurance involves:
Obedience to the gospel – above all, we must obey the gospel (Gal.1:8).
A love for truth– we must love the truth and guard it whatever the cost (2Thes.2:10).
A consistent prayer life – prayer will keep your relationship strong (Lk.18:1).
Being a worshipper – worship is the key to a victorious life (Psa.34:1).
Diligent reading and studying the Word – this is where faith comes from (Rom.10:17).
Being faithful to church – if you keep coming you can get through any trial (Heb.10:13).
Giving your time, talents, and money – put God first (Mat.6:33).
Submitting to the standards of God’s Word – as you grow there will be things you will see in His Word that will contradict your lifestyle.
You must be willing to allow God to change you (1Pet.1:15).
Closing…
Heb.2:1-3 – Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the Word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward; how shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation?
