Pray
There are three points I want us to consider
Protocol
Faith
Provision
Book
Point 1 Protocol
In our prayer series I have Matthew 6:11 “Give us this day our daily bread,” I want us to notice before we ask God to do anything for us we acknowledge/recognize who God is (give some names of who He is) and what he is doing. (Drawing us to himself and growing us up to full maturity in Christ Jesu by the power of the holy Spirit )and then we need to rely on or believe with out doubt.
Point 2 Faith/Belief
Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” James 1:5–7 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;”
Testimony: Ice Cream for the kids
Point 3 Provision
Les talk about a foreshadowing of this daily bread, which was manna a temporary fix for a temporary situation. (Exodus 16:1–5 “They set out from Elim, and all the congregation of the people of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Si-nai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they had departed from the land of Egypt. And the whole congregation of the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness, and the people of Israel said to them, “Would that we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the meat pots and ate bread to the full, for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.” Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I am about to rain down bread from heaven for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law or not.
God provided for the children of Isreal up until the they entered the promise land Exodus 16:35 “The people of Israel ate the manna forty years, till they came to a habitable land. They ate the manna till they came to the border of the land of Canaan.”
Jesus our new bread
Requesting daily bread is not only about physical provision.
It can also refer to asking God to provide for our less tangible needs. In Matthew 7:7–11 ““Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!”
God has already met our greatest spiritual need, that of forgiveness and restoration, through Christ Colossians 2:13 “And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,” But He does not stop there. Jesus calls Himself the "Bread of Life" (John 6:35). "In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind" (John 1:4). Jesus says He came to bring us abundant life (John 10:10). Not only are we saved for eternity, but we also experience a restored relationship with God now. We seek Him daily, and He renews us day by day.
