Juan 4:21–24 (RVR60)

21 Jesús le dijo: Mujer, créeme, que la hora viene cuando ni en este monte ni en Jerusalén adoraréis al Padre.

22 Vosotros adoráis lo que no sabéis; nosotros adoramos lo que sabemos; porque la salvación viene de los judíos.

23 Mas la hora viene, y ahora es, cuando los verdaderos adoradores adorarán al Padre en espíritu y en verdad; porque también el Padre tales adoradores busca que le adoren.

24 Dios es Espíritu; y los que le adoran, en espíritu y en verdad es necesario que adoren.

21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.

22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews.

23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

La adoración | Worship

-La adoración como expresión física, es la acción de arrodillarse o postrarse ante Dios, reconociendo su superioridad.

-Worship as a physical expression is the action of kneeling or prostrating before God, recognizing his superiority.

-El único objeto de culto y adoración es Dios.

Mateo 4:8–10 (RVR60)

8 Otra vez le llevó el diablo a un monte muy alto, y le mostró todos los reinos del mundo y la gloria de ellos,

9 y le dijo: Todo esto te daré, si postrado me adorares.

10 Entonces Jesús le dijo: Vete, Satanás, porque escrito está: Al Señor tu Dios adorarás, y a él sólo servirás.

8 Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.

9 And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”

10 Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”

La adoración verdadera | True worship

-En el AT, el hombre expresaba su adoración a Dios ofreciendo un animal en un altar.

-In the Old Testament, man expressed his worship of God by offering an animal on an altar.

-Luego, Dios ordenó a Moisés que construyera un tabernáculo para que el pueblo le ofreciera adoración.

-Then God ordered Moses to build a tabernacle for the people to worship him.

-Esta clase de adoración consistía en una serie de objetos, ritos y ceremonias que acompañaban los sacrificios.

-This type of worship consisted of a series of objects, rites and ceremonies that accompanied the sacrifices.

-Pero todo esto era como una sombra, pero la realidad se cumpliría en Cristo Jesús.

-But all this was like a shadow, but the reality would be fulfilled in Christ Jesus.

-“En el NT se ha revelado una nueva manera en que el hombre se relaciona con Dios. Por medio de Jesús hemos pasado a formar parte de la familia de Dios, ahora somos hijos de Dios.

-“In the NT a new way in which man relates to God has been revealed. Through Jesus we have become part of the family of God, now we are children of God.

Por medio del Espíritu Santo recibimos el espíritu de adopción por el cual clamamos “Abba Padre” .

Through the Holy Spirit we receive the spirit of adoption by which we cry “Abba Father”.

-Ahora podemos acercarnos con toda confianza al trono de la gracia.

-Now we can approach the throne of grace with confidence.

Hebreos 4:15–16 (RVC)

15 Porque no tenemos un sumo sacerdote que no pueda compadecerse de nuestras debilidades, sino uno que fue tentado en todo de la misma manera que nosotros, aunque sin pecado.

16 Por tanto, acerquémonos confiadamente al trono de la gracia, para alcanzar misericordia y hallar gracia para cuando necesitemos ayuda.

Hebrews 4:15–16 (NIV)

15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.

16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

-La verdadera adoración solo puede ser ofrecida a Dios por aquellos que han sido hechos hijos suyos por medio del Nuevo Pacto.

-True worship can only be offered to God by those who have been made his children through the New Covenant.

La adoración en espíritu | Worship in spirit

-El espíritu del hombre es el órgano por el cual puede comunicarse con Dios. En el momento del nuevo nacimiento, este espíritu, anteriormente muerto, es vivificado y devuelto a su inicial vocación.

-The spirit of man is the organ through which he can communicate with God. At the moment of new birth, this spirit, previously dead, is vivified and returned to its initial vocation.

-La adoración en espíritu solo puede ser ofrecida a Dios por aquellos que han “nacido de nuevo”, ya que el “hombre natural” no percibe las cosas del Espíritu de Dios.

-Worship in spirit can only be offered to God by those who have been “born again,” since the “natural man” does not perceive the things of the Spirit of God.

-Dios únicamente puede ser adorado verdaderamente por personas espirituales; es decir, por aquellos que se dejan guiar por el Espíritu Santo y que andan conforme a Su voluntad.

-God can only be truly worshiped by spiritual people; that is, by those who allow themselves to be guided by the Holy Spirit and who walk according to his will.

La adoración en verdad | Worship in truth

-Jesús dijo a la mujer samaritana que tanto ella como su pueblo adoraban lo que no conocían, así que su adoración no podía ser conforme a la verdad de Dios.

-Jesus told the Samaritan woman that both she and her people worshiped what they did not know, so their worship could not be according to the truth of God.

-Muy a menudo, el culto del AT degeneró en un formalismo vacío, un ritualismo en el que los símbolos no expresaban la realidad y que se había convertido en un acto vacío y no sincero, solo costumbrista.

-Very often, the cult of the Old Testament degenerated into an empty formalism, a ritualism in which the symbols did not express reality and which had become an empty and insincere act, just a costum.

-Una persona puede adorar a Dios en espíritu y en verdad solo cuando el Espíritu Santo more en ella, porque el Espíritu Santo es el Espíritu de verdad.

-A person can worship God in spirit and in truth only when the Holy Spirit dwells in him, because the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth.

17 es decir, el Espíritu de verdad, al cual el mundo no puede recibir porque no lo ve, ni lo conoce; pero ustedes lo conocen, porque permanece con ustedes, y estará en ustedes.

17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

-La adoración en verdad tiene que ser conforme a la palabra de Dios. La verdad se opone, por una parte, a la mentira o a la hipocresía (fingir); y por otra parte, a las sombras y a los símbolos externos. (El culto en la Biblia y en la historia. Ekklesia).

-Worship truly has to be according to the word of God. The truth is opposed, on the one hand, to lies or hypocrisy (pretense); and on the other hand, to shadows and external symbols.

-La expresión “en espíritu y en verdad” puede también comprenderse como una indíadis (la asociación de dos palabras para expresar y enfatizar la misma idea) que significaría “el Espíritu de verdad”.

-The expression “in spirit and in truth” can also be understood as an indiadis (the association of two words to express and emphasize the same idea) that would mean “the Spirit of truth.”

Ambas cosas son necesarias | Both things are necessary

-Espíritu y la verdad son dos elementos esenciales en la adoración. En la Biblia, el Espíritu y la verdad siempre están asociados.

-Spirit and truth are two essential elements in worship. In the Bible, the Spirit and truth are always associated.

-Una adoración solo “espiritual”, corre el riesgo de dejarse llevar por los sentimientos y conceptos humanos.

-A worship that is only “spiritual” runs the risk of being carried away by human feelings and concepts.

-Por otro lado, una adoración que solo se enfoque en la “verdad”, sin tener el elemento de la renovación por el Espíritu, puede convertirse en algo formalista, estéril y ritual.

-On the other hand, a worship that only focuses on the “truth”, without having the element of renewal by the Spirit, can become something formalistic, sterile and ritualistic.

-La verdadera adoración no se remite a un lugar correcto, sino a una actitud correcta; es decir, a una actitud sincera y dispuesta a dejarse guiar por el Espíritu de Dios.

-True worship does not refer to a correct place, but to a correct attitude; that is, a sincere attitude and willingness to be guided by the Spirit of God.

-La mujer samaritana estaba acostumbrada solo a ir a un lugar para ofrecer algo a Dios, pero no se había entregado completamente a El, porque su vida no había presentado un cambio radial y verdadero.

-The Samaritan woman was used to only going to a place to offer something to God, but she had not completely given herself to Him, because her life had not presented a radical and true change.

La verdadera adoración es aquella que expresa una verdadera transformación de nuestra vida.

True worship is that which expresses a true transformation of our lives.

Es por eso que Dios es†á en busca ce verdaderos adoradores, que le adoren “en espíritu y en verdad”.

That is why God is looking for true worshipers, who worship Him “in spirit and in truth”.
