 The Impedance of a Free Will Offering

Exodus 25,32,36

I.          THE OFFERING IS FOR THE FITTING AND BEAUTIFICATION OF THE SANCTUARY.  (Chapter 25)

            A. Freely given from the heart.

            B. Of all they posses. (A representation of their diverse wealth and blessings)

            C. Conveyed to Moses upon mount Sinai while separated from the people.

II.         THE PEOPLE GIVE AN OFFERING FOR IDOLATROUS PURPOSES.  (Chapter 32)

            A. A different offering than that which God would ask.

                        1) A pittance really.

                        2) Not sacrificial.

                        3) Expendable income.

            B. Idolatrous, because they are removed from the Word of God.

                        1) Moses gone

                        2) Impatience grows

                       

III.       THE JUDGMENT OF GOD.  (Chapter 25)

            A. The gold wasted.

            B. The people chastened.

            C. 3000 men killed by the Levites.

IV.       THE REPENTANCE AND OFFERING OF THE PEOPLE.  (Chapter 36)

            A. They gave willingly.

            B. They gave sacrificially.

            C. They gave joyfully.

            D. They gave above and beyond what was needed.
