Stay awake, is the order of today: Nic. de Lyra.—We are taught to watch, because we are charged with the care of our soul, which is the temple or house of God, and which is to be his temple for all eternity.
Not only, however, those of us who rule over Churches, but all are required to watch the doors of their hearts, lest the evil suggestions of the devil enter into them, and lest our Lord find us sleeping . Saint Gregory
We have to watch as priest, to look after the sheep of God, to feed them with the word of God, with the sacraments…
But this that the lords says to us, say to all, in this day: Watch!
But what watch means?
Fist means do not fall asleep, we fall asleep when we are in state of sin, while we are in this life, if we fall in sin is the death of the soul, but because still we can repent, still we can wake up, we call sleep.
But if God arrives a the time that we sleep, that is the issue, as we stay at that moment, we will be forever.
Stay awake, no let the sin kill the life of Grace,
You keep awake by the sacraments, if you are sleeping, wake with the sacrament of confession, and if you are awake keep awake your soul with the Eucharistic.
Mother Mary you were always awake, and you keep vigilant with the life of prayer all the days, help us to keep awake, with the sacraments, with the prayer, that the day of your son find us with the eyes looking to heaven and not looking to the matters of the earth.
