(Lesson 1)
Introduction…
We understand what you are feeling.
This is a safe environment and the kind of church that will not only love and support you but challenge and grow you (Eph. 4:15-16).
The Pathway is designed to take the new attender/believer from just being an occasional guest to being a committed/active member who finds their place of ministry and service within the church.
Our goal today is to answer your questions as to what Calvary is all about…
What Is The Life Church?
We are an autonomous church associated with the United Pentecostal Church International, headquartered in Weldon Spring, MO.
The UPCI is the largest Oneness organization with churches, ministers, and members across the globe.
The UPCI has been among the fastest-growing church organizations since it was formed in 1945 by the merger of the Pentecostal Church Incorporated and the Pentecostal Assemblies of Jesus Christ.
From 521 churches in 1945, the UPCI has grown to 40,000 churches, 35,000 licensed ministers, and a constituency of 3,750,000 in 220 nations and territories. There is also an association called the Global Council, chaired by the General Superintendent of the UPCI.
The UPCI emerged out of the Pentecostal movement that began with a Bible school in Topeka, Kansas in 1901 and with the Azusa Street Revival in Los Angeles in 1906. It traces its organizational roots to 1916 when a large group of Pentecostal ministers began to unite around the teaching of the oneness of God and water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ.
The governmental structure is congregational in that local churches are self-governing, elects its pastor, owns its property, and establishes its ministry and membership.
What Is The Nebraska District?
The UPCI is divided by states which are Districts. Each District is divided into Sections.
Nebraska District has 3 Sections – We are in section 2.
Each District has a Superintendent, District Secretary and each Section has a Presbyter. The 3 Presbyters and Superintendent and Secretary make up the District Board.
