Baby Dedication

Introduction

This morning, Jackie and Sam, have come with a desire to dedicate themselves and young Wesley to the Lord. What is baby dedication? In actuality, it is a parent dedication. Both parents have come this morning and stand before our congregation testifying that they are committed to raising their child according to God’s Word.

BODY

This, as we know, stands in compliance with God’s commands.

Children are a great gift from the Lord.

Psalm 127:3–5 KJV 1900

3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: And the fruit of the womb is his reward. 4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; So are children of the youth. 5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: They shall not be ashamed, But they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

As such, it is the duty of every parent, especially a believing parent, to raise their children according to God’s Word.

Deuteronomy 4:9 KJV 1900

9 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;

Deuteronomy 31:13 KJV 1900

13 And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the Lord your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

Proverbs 22:6 KJV 1900

6 Train up a child in the way he should go: And when he is old, he will not depart from it.

So this morning, Sam and Jackies, pledge to train Wesley in the way that he should go which is God’s way. They commit to taking heed themselves to His Word as they teach Wesley to hear and feat the Lord our God.
