The New Revised Standard Version Chapter 64
64 O that you would tear open the heavens and come down,
so that the mountains would quake at your presence—
2 as when fire kindles brushwood
and the fire causes water to boil—
to make your name known to your adversaries,
so that the nations might tremble at your presence!
3 When you did awesome deeds that we did not expect,
you came down, the mountains quaked at your presence.
This is the Word of God, Thanks be to God
This a passage is a lament because Israel is tired and weary of their oppressors; and long for God to reconcile them, and let the adversary know that what may seem like victory for a moment is just a moment because God is mightier and greater than any mountain or fire. At the end of verse 3, the passage remembers that God can do the imaginable. This is their hope, in the all powerful God.
Can you remember a time when you were weary, tired and had nothing left to give? That maybe you right now. Let me encourage you to pour your heart out to God just like Isaiah did and remember that when the Lord comes down on the mountain; he is so great and powerful that the mountains whatever they maybe quake in his presence. Nothing is greater than our God.
