Apostels creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

maker of heaven and earth;

And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, dead, and buried;*

the third day he rose from the dead;

he ascended into heaven,

and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic** church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting. Amen.

Peace

peace is stacked in many different layers, that cover various Stages of peace, peace with God, inner peace, and peace with others. We need to start with the message in

Matthew 5:9

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

You see in Matthew it tells us the peacemakers will be called children of God.

Just as each week we talk about our life needs to be centered around the scriptures, again if we look for peace it begins in scripture. we need a biblical foundation this will give us the base in which to find peace in many different ways.in

Philippians 4:7

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

So to get started we need to allow Jesus to speak to us through scripture. As we have talked many times we can do nothing with out Jesus in our life. Peace is no different. The Jewish have a term for peace it is Shalom. "Shalom," which goes beyond the absence of conflict and implies holistic well-being, prosperity, and harmony. Emphasize God's desire for Shalom in individuals and communities. so you see even in Jesus’s time Peace could only be achieved with Jesus Christ. We as humans sometimes get success confused with peace, which normally is short lived. In the old testament in

Psalm 29:11

The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.

You see even is the old testament the prophets were telling Christians of how to find true peace.

Inner Peace

When looking for inner peace, which is often described as a sense of calmness and contentment that comes from a relationship with God. as John tells us in

John 14:27

27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

We tend to get hung up on how we can deal with what is in front of us everyday, when in our scripture Jesus tells us turn to God in all we encounter and do. He is our way to the answers we seek. In a world filled with anguish, loneliness, heartache, sickness, and sorrow – one would think that peace was impossible to find. Especially when the world tells us that there cannot be peace in the midst of conflict. Peace by worldly standards is portrayed most often in quiet, calm, picturesque scenery. Although I do agree that an calm landscape is most calming and peaceful, unfortunately, it does not last.

Life will never be 100% perfect or void of trials and tribulations. That isn’t the plan. The Lord’s plan is for us to come to earth to be tried and tested that we may learn and grow and return back to Him. Along with that plan, He has also made a way for us to find everlasting peace in the midst of conflict. A peace that doesn’t come from the outside, but a peace that comes from within. So when we look in

Isaiah 2:4

He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. The Lord does not want conflict he desires peace for us all. He reaffirms that in

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.

The lord wants us to be with like minded people, The people who trust in the lord and can lift each other up when we stumble. That does not mean we are to stay secluded, no we are to go to the lost and share Gods love and peace with all. So as we live our best life here on earth we need to remember God intends for us to find peace and we need to look to him for guidance for this. As we do in all things we do we need to trust he has our best in mind each and everyday. We need to remember what Jesus tells us in

Numbers 6:24-26

“‘“The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; 26 the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’

In the end this is Gods plan we will all live together in Peace in Christianity which involves a harmonious relationship with God, inner tranquility through faith, and actively pursuing peace in relationships with others. By drawing on these biblical principles, you can provide a comprehensive understanding of peace as a Christian. so as we go out this second Sunday of lent let’s do our best to allow Peace to be our Goal in life.

AMEN
