The Love of Christ Compels

2 Corinthians 5:14–15 ESV

For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.

A. The love of Christ is the love that Christ showed for us in dying on the cross for our sins. 

He died for us when we were still sinners - Rom 5:6-8

Not only did Jesus die for sinners but he died for all sinners.  “because we judge thus: that if One died for all” 2 Cor.5:14 

His death was not for just a select few but he by God’s grace tasted death for everyone Heb.2:9

That means that Christ died for you and for me.

  It means that salvation is available to all men if they will obey the Lord

B. If Christ was willing to die for me then should I not be willing to live for him instead of living for myself.

His love should motivate me to love and serve him.   

This is what the apostle Paul had done in his own life.  He wrote, Gal. 2:20

Galatians 2:20 ESV

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Conclusion:

Does the love of Christ compel you to serve the Lord? 

We can never repay the Lord for what he did for us but we should serve him out of gratitude for that great sacrifice.
