One of the reasons I love Christmas so much is because it gives us a simple point to focus on.

There is a baby in a manger. That baby is God.

That God left heaven to come to us.

What grace we have been given.

I’m not batting 1000 and I’m not 100%, but almost every single night during December, we read our advent stories.

We anticipate the coming of Jesus.

The boys take out a little paper ornament and hang it on our paper tree that we have with our advent book.

We are all focused on Jesus.

Sure Santa is present in our home.

Sure gifts are a major deal.

Sure the tree smells great and looks great.

But every chance we get, we remind our boys about giving and about Jesus who has given us everything.

There’s not any other time during the year where we are focused on one thing like that.

We are just so busy.

And that’s where I come back to the point of my message tonight.

In your busy life, playing 3 different sports and doing school, and thinking all that matters so you can get into college and if you don’t get into college your life is over…

Can I simply ask you to evaluate your life and say, is that what matters?

Is it really?

Maybe what’s actually missing and what matters in your life is courage.

We need courage to say no.

We need lots of courage to say no!
