Trust The Process
Trust The Process
When we bake a cake when know the outline of the ingrediates we know what the outcome will be before we finish baking it. So we think on those things.
Psalm 37:1–7 “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, Neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; So shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord; And he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; Trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, And thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: Fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, Because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.”
PSALMS 37 IS WRITTEN IN THE FORM OF AN ACROSTIC THERE IS NO LOGICAL OUTLINE TO THE PSALM SO ITS BEST STUDIED ACCORDING TO THE ITS TOPIC. THE MAJOR POINT OF THE PSALM SEEMS TO THAT THE WICKED PROSPERITY IS SHORT LIVED. DAVIS WAS TROUBLED BY THE PROSPERITY OF THE UNRIGHT
FRET NOT,
The Hebrew word “CHARAH” that was translated “fret” in this verse means “to glow or grow warm; figuratively (usually) to blaze up, of anger, zeal, jealousy” (Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary). So this is instructing us not to be jealous or angry about the prosperity of the wicked. Psalms 37:2 gives us good reason not to be this way.
The word fret, first penned in the Hebrew language, means “to burn or to be kindled with anger.” When we allow our angry thoughts to become kindling, burning in our minds, they can soon spark angry actions we might regret.
Proverbs 19:3
Philippians 4:6
TRUST
he following verses are the blessings of the righteous as contrasted with the destruction of the wicked described in Psalms 37:1-2. When we trust in the Lord and do what is right, we have this promise that we will dwell in the land and be fed. The land spoken of was the Jews’ Promised Land. So, for us, we will dwell in the fulfillment of God’s promises to us and receive His provision. We will not only occupy the place He has for us, but we will do it with abundance. Proverbs 3:5
DELIGHT
This doesn’t mean that the Lord will give us whatever we want, but it is saying that when we trust in the Lord, He will put His desires in our hearts. This is one of the simplest and most prevalent ways of receiving direction from the Lord.
The word “delight” was translated from the Hebrew word `ANAG, and it means “to be soft or pliable, i.e. (figuratively) effeminate or luxurious” (Strong’s Concordance). I believe this is speaking of having a soft or sensitive heart toward the Lord (see my note at Mark 6:52). If—and only if—our hearts are sensitive toward the Lord, then we can do what we want to do (see my note at Psalm 1:2).
Notice that we are to delight ourselves in the Lord. This doesn’t happen accidentally or automatically. We have to purpose to do this.
COMMIT
The Hebrew word “GALAL,” which was translated “commit” here, means “to roll (literally or figuratively)” (Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary). The word “way” was translated from the Hebrew word, “DEREK,” meaning “a road (as trodden); figuratively, a course of life or mode of action” (Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary). So this is literally telling us to roll the road, or course, of our lives over onto the Lord.
When we aren’t doing our own thing but have direction from the Lord and are walking the path He has chosen for us, we just trust Him to direct our paths (Proverbs 3:6), and He brings it to pass.
REST
This psalm starts with the command not to envy the wicked, because they will be cut down as grass (Psalms 37:1-2). Then Psalms 37:3-6 promises ultimate victory over the wicked to those who put their trust in the Lord. This verse is the conclusion of those arguments. Just rest in the Lord, wait patiently, and don’t become envious of the wicked, and we will see God exalt righteousness in due time 1 Peter 5:6
