Old Testament Grace
Old Testament Grace
Gracious or merciful behavior of a more powerful person toward another.
(ii) ḥēn, ‘favour’ (rsv). This is not a covenant word and not two-way. It is used of the action of a superior, human or divine, to an inferior. It speaks of undeserved favour; in av it is translated ‘grace’ (38) and ‘favour’ (26). Examples of man’s ḥēn are found in Gn. 33:8, 10, 15; 39:4; Ru. 2:2, 10. God’s ḥēn is found in Je. 31:2 (rsv ‘faithfulness’, av ‘lovingkindness’). No-one can show ḥēn to God (as one can show ḥesed, for no-one can do him a favour.

and said, “If, now, I have found favour in Your eyes, O יהוה, I pray, let יהוה go on in our midst, even though we are a—stiff-necked people. And forgive our crookedness and our sin, and take us as Your inheritance.”
Though He scoffs at the scoffers, Yet He gives grace to the humble.
For Yahweh God is a sun and shield; Yahweh gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk blamelessly.
New Testament

Grace would be used as an opening to the letters sent out. Like Tit 1:4
To Titus, my genuine child according to our common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not of works, so that no one may boast.
1 (1).Noun Usage1. convicting evidence† — evidence that makes someone fully agree, understand, and realize the truth or validity of something; especially based on argument or discussion.
Heb 11:1 πραγμάτων ἔλεγχος οὐ βλεπομένων·
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Grace + favour and conviction work hand in hand.
“And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment;
‘Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline. Therefore be zealous and repent.
