Its Christmas time!! What does that mean?
Let kids describe Christmas to you
If Christmas was color…what color would it be?
Green, red, white ect
Today, we are going to do a craft and lesson all in one! With only three colors.
(Give each kid a blank ornament and the first color)
Our first Christmas color is Red!! What are some Christmas items that are red?
Santa's suit, Rudolf nose, the stripe on a candy cane
Very good! But, what about red representing Jesus?
RED represents Jesus being born on Christmas to die for our sins.
Romans 5:9 “And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation.”
Because when he died, his blood washed us clean and saved us!
Next color! Green. What are some Christmas things that are green?
Christmas trees, wreaths, elves, light bulbs
Yes! And now!! What about Jesus?
GREEN is the color of the evergreen. Its a tree, they last all year long. They don’t change and die away when the seasons change, even in the winter! Green symbolizes the eternal life that Jesus gave to us because of red!
John 3:16 ““For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
White! And what Christmas things are white?
snowmen, white lights, snow, santas beard, christmas cookie frosting,
And the Jesus part? can anyone guess what it is?
WHITE symbolizes the purity of Jesus. Because when Jesus was here he lived a sinless life. He was perfect. And so because he was, he was the only one who could save us. And so, when we turn to him and follow him and ask him into our heart, he washed us clean too!! White as snow!!
Hebrews 4:15 “This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.”
Gold! Christmas gold things?
star on the tree, garland, angel halo, gold ribbon
GOLD represents a King! its the royalty of Jesus Christ. He came to earth as a baby, but he was the King of Kings and the Lord of lords!
Matthew 2:1–2 “Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.””
And lastly, we have SILVER!!
Christmas things that are silver?
silver bells, tinsel, garland, star
SILVER has two meanings. It represents the star of Bethlehem that the wise men followed to find Jesus and it also represents Jesus as our great shepherd! In Bible times, shepherds rang bells in order to help the sheep find their way home. So when Jesus came as a baby to die for us, he came to help us find our way home!
John 10:11 ““I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.”
And there you have it!
