From Hunger to Desire

Pray that we would be spiritually hungry for His truth and That His righteousness be established in our lives.

Hunger means, starved, famished to a point of fear. Hunger is caused by lack of food or nourishment. Hunger produces a desire for food.

Matthew 5:6 NKJV
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

One of the first things Jesus did before he started His ministry was to fast for 40 days. He felt hunger.

Hunger is a sensation we feel in our bodies. It brings fear and emptiness with it.

What are you hungry for?

Deuteronomy 8:3 NKJV
So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.

When we are Hungry we are given the option give into our desires that lead us astray. Or we can look to God to provide for our need.

Nehemiah 9:15 NKJV
You gave them bread from heaven for their hunger, And brought them water out of the rock for their thirst, And told them to go in to possess the land Which You had sworn to give them.

God wants to feed us and provide for our every need. To Receive we must be open to receive from Him.

Philippians 4:19 NKJV
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

If we look to God and don’t receive its because we are asking for the wrong thing to feed our hunger.

Psalm 34:10 NKJV
The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.
James 4:3 NKJV
You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.

Jesus is the Bread of Life

John 6:35 NKJV
And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
