Introduction:
I’m consistently blown away by the legacy dad left behind. Walt was as genuine as they come, smart funny, and from what little I had a chance to see, a very loving father.
The family this morning has asked me to share a message incapsulates their dad, husband, and friend. And what I have learned over the last months or so has completely blown me away.
Walt gave so much of his time volunteering and caring the best he could for his family. I know that without a shadow of a doubt that Walt, is so proud of each of you kiddo’s…
The Bible tells us in Matthew 7:9-11:
9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
Walt wasn’t perfect. But he did know how to give and serve. Even before knowing Christ as his Lord and Savior he knew how to care well for people… protecting the vulnerable and the downtrodden.
Walt lived a full and rich life. And we will deeply miss our brother in Christ, your dad, your husband.
You see Walt knew how to give and serve well, but he also knew that he couldn’t do it perfectly. And that He needed to rely on God through Jesus Christ. Who is the Author and Finisher of his faith.
Walt’s heavenly Father gave the greatest gift and service to him. He gave His perfect Son to take away Walt’s sin. ALL OF IT!
7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
Not only is was Walt a born again believer, he trusted in the hope of Jesus Christ that Christ ascended into heaven to make a place for him.
1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
Christ died on the cross to not only remove Walt’s sins but to prepare a place for him.
We know where Walt resides. In heaven with his perfect heavenly Father who has given him life and life everlasting.
And this morning I want to give you an opportunity to know this gracious and kind God, that saved Walt. To give you an opportunity to not only be reunited with Walt but also you get to spend all eternity with God in perfection.
