I want to look at this from a very logical standpoint. Afterall, Jesus is having a discussion with a lawyer who would be making an argument from the place of logic.
Eternal Life -> Love: God & Neighbor -> “Who is my neighbor?” -> Requirement to love your neighbor: compassion -> what will it cost you? Convenience, time, resources, finances.
