Advent is a time of reflecting on the fact that we’re waiting for our King to come. Israel awaited their redeemer’s coming while subject to Rome. Some with hope for their rescue, some with contentment since peace will come. Some with joy as they imagine what freedom will be like and some with love for their rescuer. We too await our Redeemer while subject to this broken world ruled by the evil one. But we know who He is and that He already redeemed us. This week we think of the joy we’ll have living in God’s kingdom, surrounded by His Glory, and be joyful here on earth because of this salvation that is being fulfilled.
