What or who are you seeking?

1st thing we see is that Jesus was born.
Let’s look at a few verses that prophesied His birth.
Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, And shall call his name Immanuel.”
Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: And the government shall be upon his shoulder: And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Micah 5:2 “But thou, Beth-lehem Ephratah, Though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; Whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.”
But what does that mean to us.
If you have been a Christian for some time you have come to realize that the world was in a path to eternal condemnation.
John 3:16–18 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
1 John 4:9–10 “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”
You see in Romans we read that the wages of sin is death. Which means the only way to pay for our sin is to die. Well once we die we are eternally separated from God.
But God wanted and wants a relationship with us. Therefore the only way for us to have a relationship with God was for our Heavenly Father to send His son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sin. Our sin to be upon His head.
Once we believe in Jesus and His resurrection, we now have eternal life because we have been saved from our sin. Jesus has paid our price.
That was the importance of Jesus being born again.
God has put in our soul a wanting that is only fulfilled through Jesus.
So many people go through life searching and seeking and looking for things all thinking that once they have found what they have been seeking searching or looking for they would have fulfillment. But since Jesus is our only fulfillment then that individual will go through life needing, wanting, searching, seeking, looking for something.
Being all that time unfulfilled.
You get married thinking that's it, happily ever after. Then you realize that was not it therefore now you go through a divorce.
Then you get married again, realize that was not it. You divorce again.
You would probably make a good divorce counselor but not marriage.
You go buy that boat, and realize that did not give you fulfillment.
You find that boyfriend or girlfriend and that didn't bring fulfillment.
There are people here today, that are looking, seeking, searching. You are not happy, something is not right, something is missing.
Jesus is Born then wise men look for Him..
Everyone is seeking and looking for something or someone in life.
They are looking for the next big thing.
They are looking for the man or woman of their dreams
They are looking to fill that hole they have in their hearts
They feel something is missing from their life.
Is this all that life is?
Is this all that life has to offer?
The wise men went seeking after Jesus.
Have you found Jesus, or are you still looking.
Have you been coming to church for the past 10 20 years looking, searching, seeking. But still are not fulfilled.
That’s because you have not found Jesus.
The wise men went looking for Jesus, now before you say you are a wise person let me tell you a little about these wise people.
Now in the New Testament, wise men are not regarded as some God fearing people, but they are people mixed with astrology, mediums, sorcerers, deceitful.
In fact Paul confronts of them in Acts 13:6–10“And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus: Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God. But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith. Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him, And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?”
It has been said wise people still search for the Messiah, for the Savior, for the King of Kings and Lord of lords.
We have these wise men seeking Jesus. They were not righteous, they not good. They were seeking, searching.
I remember when I was lost, I started searching and seeking until I found myself face to face with the creator of the universe. I found myself kneeling in front of him asking for forgiveness.
I was not righteous
I was not good, in fact I am still not good
But there was that emptiness in my life,
I was seeking in all the wrong places with the wrong people, doing the wrong things.
Not once did I even think or believe that what I was looking for was something the earth would not be able to provide.
You can make money and still feel empty
You can have material things and still feel empty
What if you can have money and feel fulfilled
What if you can have material things and feel fulfilled.
That is what I found.
I found fulfilment in Jesus.
You see, when Jesus came to earth as a baby, it was a gift that was provided by our heavenly Father for us.
It is an overwhelming gift.
You see, that baby that was born and born for the sole purpose of going to the cross and dying for our sins.
When you accept Jesus as your Lord and savior you become part of His family.
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
Ephesians 2:8–10 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
Ephesians 2:13 “But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.”
We were all far at one point.
John 4:14 “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
1 Peter 1:18–19 “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:”
You can not purchase your way into heaven, your parents can’t give you salvation through their guidance. It is not even saying the sinners prayer and leaving in there.
But: It is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
SINNERS PRAYER
I believe Jesus dies and was raised again on the third day for my sins. I am a sinner in need of a savior. You sent your son to die on the cross for my sins. I ask for your forgiveness. I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I surrender my life to Him.
If you have prayed this simple prayer and meant it then your name has been written in the Lambs Book of Life. You will spend eternity with Him.
Your new path begins now. You will be attacked by satan. Satan will try to convince you that what you heard here was a waste of time, it is not true and will probably promote you at work to keep you busy from coming closer to God. That is his plan to keep you away. Do not be deceived brother and sister. Start attending church, start hanging out with other believers.
My prayer is that you find a bible believing church, that will help you grow spiritually and be strengthened.
welcome to the family of God.
