Sovereignty Over Windy Words
Sovereignty Over Windy Words
Context

Job is in suffering. He has lost all his offspring, has boils from head to toes, and now his supposed friends are blasting him with bad advise that is only further causing Job’s pain and trial.
Eliphaz was being a “Karen”
Last week we considered the bad of advise from friend Eliphaz and his appeal to Job about being wise because he is older in age than Job.
CH 16:1-6 Worldly advise is like building on sand
CH 16:1-6 Worldly advise is like building on sand
1-6 any one can give supposed wisdom in the world that is void of God. All friends can give bad advise that is really empty. It can sound so good, and get so many likes on facebook and twitter. However just because something sounds good does not mean that it is wise advise. How do we know what is good and what is bad?: the advise must be in line with the word of God. Be careful of the advise that comes from the world, it will only lead down a path that can not actually cause peace in your soul.
Ch 16:7-16 Sovereignty is the anchor of purpose in the world
Ch 16:7-16 Sovereignty is the anchor of purpose in the world
7-16 Job is saying that all that he has gone through, is because of the Lord is willing it to come to past and not because he is being repaid in a karma sense.
11 also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will,
33 “Immediately the word concerning Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled; and he was driven away from mankind and began eating grass like cattle, and his body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers and his nails like birds’ claws.
34 “But at the end of that period, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever;
For His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
And His kingdom endures from generation to generation.
35 “All the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing,
But He does according to His will in the host of heaven
And among the inhabitants of earth;
And no one can ward off His hand
Or say to Him, ‘What have You done?’
36 “At that time my reason returned to me. And my majesty and splendor were restored to me for the glory of my kingdom, and my counselors and my nobles began seeking me out; so I was reestablished in my sovereignty, and surpassing greatness was added to me.
37 “Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, exalt and honor the King of heaven, for all His works are true and His ways just, and He is able to humble those who walk in pride.”
Quote: It is when God opens our eyes to see how great He is, then the grace of God is seen in Him giving us our every breath. The Sovereignty of God does not make Him into a monster, but rather reveals His glory and mercy for those that believe in Him through all things.
Quote: Brothers and Sisters, I could imagine many would object to myself and the words of Job due to a unhealthy understanding of “free will.” Look no further than to Christ alone on this topic. Jesus, who did not wield a sinful nature, would be confessed as the most free human of all time. Yet while being the most free, likewise His life was too was the most predetermined. God’s sovereignty does not destroy mans freedom, but our freedom is established according to God’s will.
Chapter 16:17-22 Why…does Job believe this
Chapter 16:17-22 Why…does Job believe this
Karma: Job believes this because he knows that he is a righteous man who fears Yahweh. He knows there is not some kind of Karma like god who rewards based off our actions. And praise be to God that He is not like that, but instead He is patient and Long-suffering. Why…Because if God only worked off of a karma scale, oh beloved church…We would have no hope. For we are all unrighteous, undeserving of any grace or sustaining of life. But instead our wage is immediate death and fully deserving the eternal wrath of God.

read all (save it be for mentioning follow verses)
Verse 6 … Job is still an example for us to recognize God’s sovereignty through all things as being the ultimate purpose in all things.
ASK yourself today: Do you see the infinite character of God today and how much less you are in comparison? Do you see how the deeper understanding of God’s character only amplifies the work and grace of our Lord Jesus the Christ? We deserving nothing but wrath, but instead have been saved through the blood of the One who only desired praise, yet He suffered the nails for you and I. Today is the day to repent and believe in the Gospel!
