Jesus Brings Joy
As I come forward at end of worship
SLIDE 1 “WELCOME WE’RE GLAD YOU’RE HERE
Encouraging words form worship
We have many discovered or been reminded of the Hope we have in Jesus / The Peace we have in Jesus
Today we’ll see that Joy is something the world cannot give and the world cannot take away either
SLIDE 2 “JESUS BRINGS JOY”
Stacy and I had went to dinner Friday night grabbed a coffee and drove around looking at Christmas lights.......
What is it about the lights and how so many enjoy looking at them.......could it be its distinctive kind of lights in the darkness
I know so many of us have a hope that someone out there would be touched by Christmas and that they too could experience the gift of joy
SLIDE 3
1 Chronicles 16:27 NASB95
27 Splendor and majesty are before Him, Strength and joy are in His place.
We know that Jesus brings us into God’s habitation ....into the presence of God and JOY really seems to always bee found in this place
I would most of us here today would say our greatest experience of JOY came when we fully embraced Christ and received His forgiveness
So that we almost see 3 stages..........as if we were to step back far enough to observe all the people in this world
SLIDE 4 “HOPE PEACE JOY”
Almost like seeing people who have no JOY......and why? As we have observed previously that Chris gives HOPE.....Christ gives PEACE and in those a result of JOY
It truly is like I try to describe a lot ....the mechanics of His Spirit at work in us.....the reason why we can have joy in any circumstance or condition.......because our HOPE is in Christ our God.....our PEACE is in Christ our God and therefore JOY is produced from those gifts He brought to a dying world
SLIDE 5 “BUT THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS”
I say produced because as we know we are sealed in The Holy Spirit when receiving Christ as our Lord and Kings..... His Spirit is then at work inside of us and therefore produces fruit in our lives......JOY is one of those fruits
I like how the lemon there represents JOY.....what’s that saying if life gives you lemons.....just make some lemonade
SLIDE 6 “WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS SQUEEZE THEM IN PEOPLES EYES”
Nooooo......that’s not the right one!
That’s what we do before we came to know Jesus in our lives....I call that BC
SLIDE 7 “WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS MAKE LEMONADE”
That’s better …that’s more like it, that’s the fruit of the Spirit that comes forth form inside, being produced from His Spirit
I say produced....but we are not working for these fruits or from our works because Galatians tells us there is no law against these fruits, which we know law is works
This is all the work of God through Christ Jesus and the His Holy Spirit produces from withing....very cool
SLIDE 8 “WORKS OF THE FLESH”
These are the results of our own righteousness or when Christ Holy Spirit not allowed to work from within
Notice in Galatians these are “works” produced by the flesh …but the good things are “fruits” of the Spirit
SLIDE 9 “BUT THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS”
That is why the world cannot give us JOY and the world cannot take it away.....it is produced as a fruit of the Spirit from within
Not I would bet a follower of Christ greatest desire is to have that continual great JOY throughout our journey and to maintain that JOY....amen?
Right....we sometimes fall into that trap of wanting to squeeze or squirt a lemon in someones eye
So .....if JOY is a fruit of the Spirit…Holy Spirit then where would I might have the best access to JOY......when pursuing His Spirit.....His Presence .....amen?
SLIDE 10
1 Chronicles 16:27 NASB95
27 Splendor and majesty are before Him, Strength and joy are in His place.
Do you know who wrote this in 1 Chron 16:27?
King David
King David was dealt a lot of lemons
But through His pursuit of God’s presence He found JOY from the Lord
I thought JOY came when Jesus came.....”Joy to the World”
Jesus did bring JOY but remember David and like many of the prophets and fathers of the faith....they believed in Jesus day of coming and where able to experience JOY because of that.
King David was blessed to express through Psalms or singing praises to our God
You will find the word JOY in the Psalms than any other place in the Bible
SLIDE 11
Psalm 5:11 NASB95
11 But let all who take refuge in You be glad, Let them ever sing for joy; And may You shelter them, That those who love Your name may exult in You.
We see this as early as the 5th Psalm David using the words “those who take refuge in God” ........the result or fruit is being glad and singing for JOY.....as matter of fact ever singing for JOY
SLIDE 12
Psalm 43:4 NASB95
4 Then I will go to the altar of God, To God my exceeding joy; And upon the lyre I shall praise You, O God, my God.
Here is kinda of a midway through all the Psalms pick....there are so many references David gives to JOY in the Psalms we could do a whole hour of readings
But notice the pursuit to God’s presence and the use of the musical instruments as well described here
I think we see that we have been given a gift from the Lord in worship also and worship music to help us maintain a fruit of JOY in our lives
Think about this for a second........ever notice how much JOY a person who exclaims or expresses their worship to the Lord? What do you first see on their faces?....JOY
Well how do we know David expressed like that? I would call dancing before the Lord when bringing in the Arc of the Covenant an expression of JOY
Can I get in a slump away from JOY at times?.....And what would be an avenue back to that JOY?......the Lord gifted us through KIng David’s example there also
SLIDE 13
Psalm 51:8–12 (NASB95)
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness,
Let the bones which You have broken rejoice.
9 Hide Your face from my sins
And blot out all my iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me away from Your presence
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation
And sustain me with a willing spirit.
Also it is God’s word, Jesus the word of God for another resource of renewed JOY
SLIDE 14
John 15:11 (NASB95)
11 “These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.
SLIDE 15
Romans 14:17 (NASB95)
17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Our fellowship as a church family is always good, but we are not a country club we are to be a fellowship first pursuing God’s presence, His word and His Spirit and therefore comes the fruit of JOY from within
