-Q Who hear has a scar?
-Tell about my scar on my knee from a hammer.
-Our Scars tell a story-every single one has a story.
Some are pleasant (although the wound hurt at the time) They come with fond memories.
Others don’t have a pleasant memory along with them.
-Regardless, .....our scars tell a story.
-Q. what is a Scar?
-A. A scar is the body’s natural way of healing and replacing lost or damaged skin.
-Its the way our bodies heal from a wound. It’s the process of our body growing NEW tissue.
-No 2 scars are the same, they are all unique in their nature!
-Growing scar tissue is a process! (won’t bore you with the big words I can’t pronounce!) But it is evidence of a healed wound!
-Most of us have physical scars that resulted from a wound, that others CAN see.....but what about the ones people can’t see? The internal scars? The internal wounds? The ones others CAN’T see.
-Emotional wounds
-Rejection, Humiliation, betrayal, injustice, abandonment.
-caused by events that made you feel this way.
Ill. Bridget “Abandonment issues.” Effects all her relationships since she was abandoned!
-How Bridget found healing/met the best Father!
Isaiah 53:5
But he was pierced because of our rebellion,
crushed because of our iniquities; (our sin/wickedness)
punishment for our peace was on him,
and we are healed by his wounds.
-If you are here today, and you have been wounded....and no matter what YOU do, or what you turn to....you just can’t seem to find healing, to find peace!.......God’s Word says that your healing is available! He can turn your wounds into beautiful scars!
-Christ died so that you didn’t have to keep these wounds opened.....He bled for you, so that you wouldn’t!!
-WE were/are rebellious, We were/are wicked.....and there was no other sacrifice that was pure enough to pay the debt that is owed for our sin!...........BUT Jesus was! Jesus was the only righteous substitute for us!!
Isaiah 53:6 ESV
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
We are all guilty of turning to this world, to others, and to ourselves to heal. We turn to ourselves to fix what is broken.....the problem with that is.....our self is the problem! And the problem cannot be the solution!!
We need a Savior!! We need Saving!!
-God knew that His creation would experience wounds in this life! He knew that in a broken world, with broken people, that we would at some point be cut!
Psalm 147:3 ESV
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
-God knew we would be cut, but He didn’t leave us with open wounds!! He provided a way out! Notice this verse is not in the past tense, “heals” is present tense language and it means healing is still available to you and me!! He never quits healing!! It’s ongoing!!
-Don’t ever feel ashamed of those scars, because Scars show healing!
Think about this….” If you never had the wound, you would never have the (healing) Scar”
Q. Are you in need of healing today? Do you have open wounds in need of new tissue (scaring)?
-I don’t know what wounds you are dealing with right now, I don’t know if you have scars you are ashamed of, but i do know:
If you have physical wounds…..Jesus can heal them!
If you have mental wounds……Jesus can heal them!
If you have emotional wounds……Jesus can heal them!
**God cares about your wounds, He cares so much that He sent His prized possession (His Son) to die for you! So that you could experience healing of your soul!! (the greatest area we ALL need healing in)
-All throughout the Gospels, the accounts of Jesus’ ministry, there are accounts of him healing those who were sick.
-Healing the blind -Healing the lame -casting out demons
Matthew 9:1–2 ESV
And getting into a boat he crossed over and came to his own city. And behold, some people brought to him a paralytic, lying on a bed. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven.”
Later on in VS. 6 Jesus does heal the paralytic, but being able to walk was not his greatest need!….His greatest need was forgiveness of his sins…..and while God heals wounds, what He wants more than anything is to forgive you of your sins and to have a relationship with you!!
2 Peter 3:9 tells us that God longs for none to perish! He longs for a relationship with you!!
Q. Have you experienced that healing?
Romans 3:23 says that all have fallen short of the glory of God. We are all sinners in need of a Savior.
Romans 6:23 Says “The wages of sins is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”!
INVITATION:
-Heads bowed/eyes closed
-Are you currently experiencing wounds that just don’t seem to heal?……Have you searched/looked for places for healing, but just can’t seem to find it?…..if your answer is, yes that’s me, will you lift your head and look at me.
-have you brought it to the feet of Jesus?
-Jesus doesn’t promise and easier life, but He does promise you an eternal life! He promises to walk thru the healing process together! He can turn your wounds into beautiful scars!
-But you first must know Him and have a relationship with him!……..do you? Would you trust Him today?
-AS OUR PRAISE TEAM MAKES THEIR WAY UP….would you step out in boldness and come front, would you lay your burdens at Jesus’ feet? Would you start a relationship today?…
