Spiritual Gifts

1 Corinthians 12:1-3
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant:
“Paul probably has in mind the difference between acting under the power of God’s Spirit and acting under the influence of other spiritual powers
Mark Taylor, 1 Corinthians, ed. E. Ray Clendenen, vol. 28, The New American Commentary (Nashville, TN: B&H Publishing Group, 2014).
“Paul cites the Corinthians’ question about the ‘spiritual ones’ in the announcement of the topic and then seeks to correct their misconceptions.”
Mark Taylor, 1 Corinthians, ed. E. Ray Clendenen, vol. 28, The New American Commentary (Nashville, TN: B&H Publishing Group, 2014), 283.
2 You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led.
3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.
Verse 1 - Spiritual gifts (people)
Verse 2 - Not carried away by the dumb (they talk but really have nothing to say) idols of the world
Verse 3 - The speech of a spiritual person - Jesus accursed (banned or excommunicated)/Jesus is LORD
