4417 The greater the difficulty, the greater the glory.
M. Tullius Cicero
Go where glory waits thee!1
But while fame elates thee,
Oh, still remember me!
Go where Glory waits thee.
Thomas Moore
“Glory” in the Bible characteristically refers to the magnificent presence of the Lord, and the eternal state was often pictured as a time when God’s people would experience and have a part in that “glory”
Douglas J. Moo
You will never glory in God till first of all God has killed your glorying in yourself.
Charles Spurgeon
This is the secret of joy. We shall no longer strive for our own way; but commit ourselves, easily and simply, to God’s way, acquiesce in his will and in so doing find our peace.
Evelyn Underhill
Joy is at the heart of satisfied living.
J. I. Packer
Joy ceases to be joy when it ceases to be ‘in the Lord’.
J. Alec Motyer
Nothing gives believers more joy than to see God glorified.
R. C. Sproul
Joy is a winsome magnet that draws people in because it is one thing they do not have.
We are chosen for joy. However hard the Christian way, it is both in the travelling and in the goal, the way of joy. There is always a joy in doing the right thing. When we evade some duty or some task, when at last we set our hand to it, joy comes to us. The Christian is the man of joy. The Christian is the laughing cavalier of Christ. A gloomy Christian is a contradiction in terms, and nothing in all religious history has done Christianity more harm than its connection with black clothes and long faces.
—William Barclay, The Gospel of John, Vol. 2
William Barclay
755The greatest joy of a Christian is to give joy to Christ.—42.356
Charles Spurgeon
I sometimes wonder whether all pleasures are not substitutes for joy.
C. S. Lewis
Joy is a condition that is experienced, but it is more than a feeling; it is, primarily, a state of mind.
J. I. Packer
True joy glows in the dark.
John Blanchard
Joy is the experience of knowing that you are unconditionally loved.
Henri Nouwen
What is the great enemy of joy?
R. C. Sproul
Here, joy begins to enter into us; there, we enter into joy.
Thomas Watson

What is the glory of God? It is the manifestation of any or all of his attributes. In other words, it is the displaying of God to the world. Thus, things which glorify God are things which show the characteristics of his being to the world.
Charles Caldwell Ryrie
