Romans 7:28-39

For the church and those who equip it

Canvas

Those Who Equip it

Kirby Smart’s 3 things

Can’t ignore the cost of leadership
You will have to make hard decisions that can negatively impact people you care about.
You will be disliked despite your best attempts to do the best for the most.
You will be misunderstood and not always have the opportunity to defend yourself.

Saying Yes to a way of doing things means saying no to others

Those other things may be the preference of other people and they may disagree regardless of how inclusive you were in the discerning process.
Could you do things different/better? - yes. Give and do your best. You will make mistakes. You may think you should have said yes to the other thing or things instead of the one you did. Stay the course, adapt as you go.
God knows it and has accounted for all this. Remember: discernment requires choices to say yes to something and not to others. There will always be people who prefer the other things
Shadow vision
Resistance
Success is never guaranteed. Suffering is.
“What if” will always be in the back of your mind.
When dissatisfied, your people (who will always be dissatisfied) will begin to pick at things such as:
Communication
Assume there are things going on you’re not telling them - even when there is nothing to tell
Some things are not appropriate to share publicly.
You can setup a fool proof communication plan and because it depends on people sending and receiving, it is never foolproof.
Everyone shares the responsibility for communication. If you have questions and don’t ask, its on you.
Unspoken expectations for you.
Why didn’t they do x?
