Matthew 26:40–41 NASB95
And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour? “Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Matthew 26:38 NASB95
Then He said to them, “My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and keep watch with Me.”
Disciple’s battle - keep watch

And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.”
Jesus’ battle - do the Heavenly Father’s will

Example Jesus overcame the flesh in the garden, his spirit won
Disciples spirit lost
The flesh is temporary but spirit is eternal
Flesh can be wounded and spirit stays the same
We hurt the flesh trying to help the spirit- drugs
Flesh will try to kill itself
God told Kane that he had to master it
How did Jesus defeat his flesh? He had knowledge of the truth of the situation. He had knowledge of the magnitude of the situation.
