Pray That We Would Be Spiritually Thirsty For His Presence

John 7:37–39 NKJV
On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
How thirsty are we for the presence of Jesus?
We cannot survive without water, Just as we cannot survive without Jesus in us.
What does “Jesus’s Presence” mean?

In Hebrew presence was translated as panim which means face.

The word presence in the bible is defined in these senses:
Proximity:
The presence or proximity of someone understood in terms of the face; with the implication of being before or in front of them.
Glory:
The presence of the God of Israel conceived of as His Glory
Communication:
In the Presence of another or others, conceived of as speaking in the ear of someone
In Person
The presence of an entity as represented by its name.
God’s Covenant
The bread of the presence, twelve loaves of holy bread prepared every Sabbath for presentation in the Tabernacle or the temple.
We Experience God’s presence through His Holy Spirit.
John 16:12–15 AMP
I have still many things to say to you, but you are not able to bear them or to take them upon you or to grasp them now. But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future]. He will honor and glorify Me, because He will take of (receive, draw upon) what is Mine and will reveal (declare, disclose, transmit) it to you. Everything that the Father has is Mine. That is what I meant when I said that He [the Spirit] will take the things that are Mine and will reveal (declare, disclose, transmit) it to you.
God’s connection with us happens through His Holy Spirit.
Let us Not reject the Holy Spirit because in doing so we reject God Himself.
Genesis 3:8–9 NKJV
And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”
Our flesh, the devil and the world do not want us to experience God or His presence.
Presence within the context of face to face time, Intimate, real connection.
God’s desire has always been for us to abide in His presence. He has always been there and has promised us His presence.
David Knew the Presence of God. He understood the things that kept him from that relationship.
Psalm 51:10–11 NKJV
Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
According to this Psalm a couple of things get in the way.
Not having a pure heart.
Hebrews 12:14 NKJV
Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:
A pure heart means holiness. Are we all in with God? Have we given ourselves over to God in such a way that we love people and love Him above all things?
Or are we trying to us God to get things we love?
Its our job to examine our motives. God will convict us if we open ourselves to Him.
Not having a steadfast spirit.
Psalm 125:1–2 NKJV
Those who trust in the Lord Are like Mount Zion, Which cannot be moved, but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the Lord surrounds His people From this time forth and forever.
David recognized that double mindedness leads to distance. Lack of trust does not breed relationship.
James 1:6–8 NIV
But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
The only way to cure a double-minded heart is to receive God’s truth.
Truth that sets us free! Not circumstantial truth but The Word of God!
