For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day. But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.

like lightning in the air
Dont go after false messiahs

WE KNOW HOW HIS SECOND COMING WILL BE

And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.
His return will be like the days of Noah

People are so self absorbed

Noahs Warning---- laugh it off and go about their life.

Q. How do we adress this ?
He must increase, but I must decrease.
Jesus wants your entire life-----not just a part
He wants in on your job, money,family life, school, etc.
struggle---start building our life and neglecting God.
focus is self
before you know it , your left unprepared.
building a life - dont neglect God
aknowledge Him
we tend to focus on the life God gave us more than the God who gave us life.
idolatry
our life goals and asperations absorb us and it
becomes the most important thing in your life.
God takes a back seat.
story- married, started a new job, had a baby.
time with the Lord went down and so focused on my life
I started neglecting the Lord.
your overall well being is contingent on your spiritual health
come home kiss wife and go pray for 10 minutes.
its better to take a lower paying job than to be pulled away from the Lord.
Start making christ centered decisions and not me centered decisions
me centered life leads you to be distracted and unprepared.
“In that day, he who is on the housetop, and his goods are in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back. Remember Lot’s wife. Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.
near and far prophecy
70 AD- judgment from roman empire—1.1 million jews died.
many christians fled to mountains and escaped
jews fled to jerusalem and were destroyed.
2nd coming — judgment will come swiftly
Love God more than the world

we see how lots wife was longing for her life and posessions in the big city.
God told them do not look back.
But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
swift judgment on disobedience
Why did she look back.
Because she loved the world
couldnt imagine life without her stuff
If yall were running away from port charlotte I know at least a few of you would go back for your xbox.
loving the world will leave you unprepared.
not about lighting your xbox on fire- but loving God more than your xbox.
not about leaving your sports but loving God more than your sports
Because He loves you more than your video games and sports.
Whoever seeks to save their life will lose it.
what does this mean...
treasure God over world
would you be happy in heaven if you had all things but God was not there.
Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
Dont go back for your goods, dont turn back to your homes, and your life, dont turn to worldly sin.
anticipate His return, turn to Him
Love Him more than you love the things of this world.
because He loved you more than the things in this world.
if you can focus on HIM, you will be prepared for his return.
I tell you, in that night there will be two men in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left. Two women will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left. Two men will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left.” And they answered and said to Him, “Where, Lord?” So He said to them, “Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.”

one taken into glory, the other left for the wrath and judgment of God
Where is this going to take place?
Obvious--- vultures---death and judgment
If your not ready for His return, you will be left to face Gods wrath.
Dont wait to get right with God

you have heard the warning

He will come when you dont expect it
So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind.
Dont wait until its too late to get right with God.

imaging having a lottery ticket and waiting to cash it in
knowing God is greater than all powerballs put together.
we dont need money or goods or big houses … we need God
you dont want to wait until it is too late.
maybe you never made a decision to Give your life to christ
maybe your neglecting Him.
stuck in sin?
today is the day to get right
