There are three DAYS that reveal what God does with everything you covet after:
I. That Day. v.20a
I. That Day. v.20a
20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee:
No one thinks it is coming.
The governments don’t think they will be held accountable.
The churches don’t think they will be held accountable.
The lost don’t think they will be held accountable.
It is required of everyone.
Hebrews 9:27 “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”
All will individually give account for every word.
All will individually give account for every work.
All will individually give account for every waste.
II. The Next Day. v.20b
II. The Next Day. v.20b
then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
Most people move on.
The money you hid away being spent without your permission.
The possessions you had being used and abused without your consent.
The spouse you mistreated being loved and treated well by another.
Who will get your prized possessions?
Some will wisely make a will and do as the Lord commanded them and take care of others.
Some will not care in death just like they did not care in life.
Some will not leave to their children and will think they are taking revenge against bad children.
III. But What About Today? v.21
III. But What About Today? v.21
21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
Who is rich toward God?
The preacher is commanded to preach to the rich not compromise because of them.
17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; 19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
There are those that have riches you know nothing of nor do you desire.
James 2:5 “Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?”
Are you rich toward God?
Many cannot answer yes. They are lost!
