Christian Spiritual Worship
Christian Spiritual Worship
Psalm 5-7,the psalm series,
Thankyou Lord that you are in every atom and element and all things that you
created but that you also live in us by Your Spirit and you choose to dwell in
us.
You who made the heavens and flung the stars into space live in us..
Thankyou Lord in Jesus name amen
You know God has many names, because no one name, can describe God.
Can you think of a name for God ?
Lets go down and each one after another just think of a name for God !!
Christian Spiritual Worship..
What if God was one of us ?
What if we were cut from the same cloth ?
What if the God of the majestic heavens walked and talked with us in our mondane
and ordinary lifes ?
What if God were intersted in even the samllest of things ?
And so we come to Psalms 5 -7
And while listening for what the message might be I had a picture of God in His
glory and wondered what this might mean !!
Can you imagine what heaven is like ?
Can you imagine God in all His glory ?
God in unapproachable light, God in splendour and magnificence !!
Imagine peels and claps of thunder, imagine an eternal everlasting God before
you !!
Imagine if you can a love that permeates through you, a love that touches every
part of you, a love that fills you to the utmost .
Imagine a light so bright and magnificent that you are awe struck and dumb.
Imagine around the throne of God seraphims and cheribims, Arch angels and
legions of angelic hosts, multitudes of angels praising and bowing down before
the throne and the elders.
Angels ascending and descending to and thro from the throne of God as lighting
streaks out from the ever creating wondrous God ...one miracle after another.
A healing, another healing, salvation after salvation and miraculous things out
pouring from the God who sits on the throne.
Power beyond imagination, as thunder roars out and shakes the heavens..
Sounds never heard on earth echo out from the creatures around the throne as
they praise and give glory to the never changing all consuming God.
His story is in His hands and all things sustained by Him who never rests or
grows weary.
He who knows all things and sustains all things who lives in unapproachable
light .....He who has all things under His feet and is the King of Kings ,
He who rules over nations and lifes ... .
HE....................................LIVES IN YOU AND ME !!
While thinking upon this message I was stuck as to what to type onto this page
when the picture of the glory of God came to me ..but also these words kept
knocking at the door of my mind.....
" Cut from the same cloth "
I wondered what this might mean but it kept on coming back over and over again,
through a week or more and I could not see what this might have to do with Psalm
5 - 7 !!
Well as usual I waited until the last minute before typing this out and as I
started to look into psalms 5 - 7 I realised what this meant .
Do you know that we have the same Father that Jesus had ?
Now that is controversial.....is'nt it ?
Now you say but ...." He was God "
Well we have the same Holy Spirit in us that Jesus had right ?
We have the same Holy Spirit that all the prophets and men of the bible had !!
The same God that raised up lazarus from the dead lives in us !!
The same Jesus , the Same God , the same Holy Spirit !!
In US who believe !!
What if God were to love you as much as His own Son ?
What if He would have died on the Cross just for you ?
What if all your wrongdoing and rebellion held and nailed Jesus to that Cross ?
What if in your own unique way and life God had a perfect plan ?
What if He had the answer to all your problems ?
What if He was the perfect fit for that God hole in your heart ?
What if He could save you from your own unique problems and have a salvation
for you alone ? what if He had gifts that were suited for you alone ? and
knowing your strengths and weaknesses could work through you ?
Put it this way ...its a bit like God cutting a robe to fit us perfectly..
Like God has made a robe for us that is tailored just for us..
Each one of the body of Christ is unique and not one person is the same..
But we work as one body together...such is the body of Christ,
At salvation this robe is put on us, this robe is the robe of righteouness,
we are made righteous by the blood of the Lamb.
The Robe of salvation !!
Isaiah 61:10 (New International Version)
I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God.
For he has clothed me with garments of salvation
and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness,
as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
" Cut from the same cloth "
Salvation is of the Lord and it is He who cuts the robe to fit us..
Zechariah 3:4
Bible in Basic English
And he made answer and said to those who were there before him, Take the
unclean robes off him, and let him be clothed in clean robes;
We are clothed in Jesus...therin we have all available to us through Jesus.
In Luke 15:18-24 we have the story of the prodigal son where the father put
on the son the " best robe "
The law would normally be that this man be stoned to death
but here the robe was a sign of protection and wearing this robe meant that the
prodigal son would be accepted back into that society and community
by the elders and by fellow men.
Of course the elder brother was not happy about the treatment this rebellious
younger brother had been given ...such is the response of many who seem to live
good lifes in front of others but in fact are not right before God.
The younger prodigal son was accepted and made right with the Father, whereas
the younger brother although seemingly good " in his own eyes " did not believe
he needed the robe of the Father..
So too a robe was given by the Father to Joseph and so too the brothers of
Joseph hated him..
" Cut from the same cloth "
We wear the armour which in fact is Jesus..
Galatians 3:27-29
27for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with
Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female,
for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29If you belong to Christ, then you are
Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Romans 13:14 (New International Version)
14Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about
how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature
Ephesians 4:24 (New International Version)
24and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and
holiness.
Christ Jesus clothes us and He is our Robe of protection...
Each of us is unique and each has a unique robe... as too , we are all different
shapes and sizes, different characters, each of us has salvation from ongoing
trials that are different and unique to us as individuals.
Each of us has the fruit and gifts and armour all worn in love.
Each of us has armour that fits us alone...
Its no good having armour that does not fit and armour that is not meant for us.
Now why the title " Christian Spiritual worship " ?
Well worship is a way of living...living and being transformed by the renewing of
our minds to know the will of God for our lifes and walking in His will and to
please Him our Father who is with us and in us
Well God wants us to be real with Him, after all He knows all about us anyway,
Romans 12:1-2
"I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God to present your bodies
a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God which is your spiritual service
of worship.
And do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind that you may prove what the will of God is, that which
is good and acceptable, or well pleasing and perfect."
Sometimes when we look at the awesomeness of God and we look at the majestic God
described earlier in this message we can sometimes think....
" Do you realise what its like to be me ? "
We can think of God up there and us down here..
We can think that God is somehow so separated from our ordinary everyday lifes
and that the bible really does'nt relate to us in our " modern " lifes.
We can see God as a far distant person we read about in sunday school or we can see God
as alien to our needs and not really interested ..
But in fact the opposite is true and we see Jesus as a man, fully human and yet
fully divine, who knows all about the people He meets on the way and see's into
their lifes and hearts.
We see God in scripture as a God who knows us better than we know ouselves and
we see that God intervenes in mans affairs all through the bible.
We see that in fact He puts Jesus on us and we wear Jesus the armour and Jesus
the protector and Jesus the sword , and Jesus the breastplate and Jesus the helmet
and Jesus the shoes of the gospel and Jesus the belt of truth...
Not only that but God / Jesus is in us.
And is the perfect fit in that God hole of the heart..
You know worship is not just the sunday morning praise and worship at Church,
this is really a way of focusing our minds and hearts on worshipping the Lord
together and a leading to teaching and unwrapping of scripture.
In the end worship is a life laid down, worship is an everyday thing, worship
is an ongoing relationship, worship is being real with God.
We can come to God and tell Him about our deepest needs and desires, our deepest
fears and despairs , our deepest longings and feelings, we can ask Him to be a
part of these things and to enter into areas of our lifes that we even keep
locked away from ourselves.
He knows all these things anyway, and there is nothing that is a secret from
the all knowing God.
At the same time we can remind ourselves of who God says we are.
We can remmind ouselves of what God word says about us.
We can be encouraged by scripture and begin to see ourselves as God see's us..
Here in psalms 5 - 7 David pours out his feelings as people plot to kill him.
As men slander his name and say " David is out to take Sauls throne "
"David is plotting to take over the kingdom"...
And of course David knew that God had anointed and appointed him to be King in
the rightful time and place, and this was not the time for David to take that
which God had given, it was not yet his time to take the robe
Well we come to psalms 5- 7 and here David is once again speaking from the
heart.
Here is a man after Gods own heart and David here in Psalms 5 - 7 is once again
pouring out his heart to the Father as he flees from King Saul.
David spared the life of Saul twice in scripture and we also see that Saul
tore the robe of Samuel the prophet in scripture, this was a prophetic action,
and symbolised that God had torn the kingdom of Israel from Saul.
1 Samuel 15 (New International Version)
27 As Samuel turned to leave, Saul caught hold of the hem of his robe, and it
tore. 28 Samuel said to him, "The LORD has torn the kingdom of Israel from you
today and has given it to one of your neighbors
You know we are anointed ? we are chosen ? we are priests and kings ?
Can the robe be torn from us ?
If we endure, we shall also reign with Him . . . (2 Timothy 2:12a)
And Thou hast made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will
reign upon the earth" (Revelation 5:10).
When someone is smeared with oil, the Hebrew word for this is 'mashach' " to be
smeared with oil, whereas 'Mashiach'means ... Anointed One!
The Greek name for anointed is "Christos" or Christ !!
Christ is our anointing and as we grow over time in our relationship with Christ
so He is rubbed off on us, so we have the fragrance of Christ...
1 John 2:20: "But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all
things."
1John 2:27: "But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you,
and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches
you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has
taught you, you will abide in Him."
2 Corinthians 1:21: "Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has
anointed us is God,"
1 Peter 2:9: "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy
nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who
called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;"
Revelation 1:6: "and has made us kings and priests to God and His Father, to
Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen."
" cut from the same cloth "
We are Kings and priests serving God the Father wearing the robes made for us !!
" Cut from the same cloth "
Have you cut from the cloth of Jesus ?
Has He clothed you with that robe that fits you alone ?
Now lets focus on psalm 7 and look at the story behind this psalm !!
This psalm was written at the time of David being chased by saul and three
thousand chosen men .
Here Saul goes into a cave to relieve himself and David creeps in un noticed
and cuts off a corner of Sauls robe.
Do you see the prophetic action here ?
But you see David knew that this was not the time and that Saul was also the
anointed of the Lord ...
8 Then David went out of the cave and called out to
Saul, "My lord the king!" When Saul looked behind him, David bowed down and
prostrated himself with his face to the ground.
You see David could have taken sauls life there and then after all this was
the man who had tried to kill him and was chasing him ..
And yet David knew the order of things and his place...
How tempting it is to take things into our own hands , how tempting it is to be
God, how tempting it is to do things our way,
There are some things that as Christians we should not do, it is not for us to
play at being God, it is not for us to judge....yet
It is not for us to take others out of the positions God has placed people in.
..
It is not for us to speak against the Lords anointed ...
It is not for us to jump before it is our time...
It must be in Gods timing, in Gods way , Gods purposes...Gods will..
This is spiritual worship...
David cut a piece from the robe of Saul ?
Now Davids time was soon to begin .....
Now He was about to take the robe and walk the walk...
Now the time of preparation was coming to an end and God was about to take the
shepherd and the prophet and make him a King...
Now the time was coming for David to rule and reign...
Have you cut from the robe ?
Have you been clothed with Jesus ?
And so David cried out for justice as men spoke out against him and slandered
his name saying " He is planning to take Saul from the throne "
Here in psalm 7 David cries out to God for justice knowing that it was not his
place but Gods alone and that Saul was anointed of God and only God could give
that which belonged to Him..
David knowing his rightful place and position and knowing that the robe of the
King would soon be his.
Romans 12:19 (Amplified Bible)
19Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave the way open for [God's] wrath;
for it is written, Vengeance is Mine, I will repay (requite), says the Lord.
Deuteronomy 32:35 (Amplified Bible)
35Vengeance is Mine, and recompense, in the time when their foot shall slide;
for the day of their disaster is at hand and their doom comes speedily.
David cries out in Psalm 7 for the robe of protection and salvation from his
enemies, for as David himself put it
Psalm 7 (New Living Translation)
1 I come to you for protection, O Lord my God.
Save me from my persecutors—rescue me!
2 If you don’t, they will maul me like a lion,
tearing me to pieces with no one to rescue me.
Jesus rescues us from the roaring lion and the accuser of the bethren...
For He saw that there was no one ...........
Isaiah 59 (Amplified Bible)
16And He saw that there was no man and wondered that there was no intercessor
[no one to intervene on behalf of truth and right]; therefore His own arm
brought Him victory, and His own righteousness [having the Spirit without
measure] sustained Him.
17For [the Lord] put on righteousness as a breastplate or coat of mail, and
salvation as a helmet upon His head; He put on garments of vengeance for
clothing and was clad with zeal [and furious divine jealousy] as a cloak.
18According as their deeds deserve, so will He repay wrath to His
adversaries, recompense to His enemies; on the foreign islands and coastlands
He will make compensation.
And David ends his psalm 7 with this
17 I will thank the Lord because he is just;
I will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.
God is with us...Emmanuel
This is Spiritual worship.....
When being faced with opposition, when faced with difficult times, when faced
with persecution, when faced with prison or hardship, when faced with trouble
and storm....we can say " I will thank the Lord because he is just;
I will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High."
This is when we can rejoice and be glad...when faced with our enemies...this
is real worship, this is when the power of the earthquake shakes the foundations
of the prison and breaks the chains of the oppressed and brings liberty.
Real and true worship comes through in times of trouble when all else fails and
we turn to God for help and we say " God I need you...help me "
For when all is against us ...God is for us...I say again...
IF GOD IS FOR US ?

The weapons of the enemy shall not prosper..
Isaiah 54:17 (Amplified Bible)
17But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue
that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong.
This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage
of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the ideal Servant of the Lord is
reproduced];
this is the righteousness or the vindication which they obtain
from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says
the Lord.
WHAT IF GOD WAS ONE OF US ?
THE BREAD OF LIFE WAS BROKEN FOR MANY..
" A CUT FROM THE SAME CLOTH "
HE IS.....IN ALL OF US THAT BELIEVE
Lets pray
Lord God King of the ages you have made us priests and anointed us and you are
anointing us.
You are a part of us and we are a part of you and as we draw closer into
relationship so you become more and more a part of us and we become more
and more like you.
Thankyou when faced with the lion behind the accusers we can say " praise be to
our God the King " and we can rejoice and be glad becasue you will deliver us
safelyfrom the slanderors and bring us to safety.
You who shield us with the salvation robe and with the righteouness robe have
given us all that we need.
thankyou
WE will thank the Lord because he is just, WE WILL sing praise to the name of
the Lord Most High.
AMEN
