The Greatness of God’s Love
The Greatness of God’s Love
1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
God’s love for us
++Was Unearned
++Was Undeserved
11 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands—
12 that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
We are called to Remember
We are called to Remember
We came into this world
++Without Hope
++Without God
Jesus did not come to a perfect world.
Jesus did not come to a perfect world.
32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
This is Love
This is Love
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
The Coming of Christ
++The Greatest Gift
++The manifestation of God’s Love
11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Through Christ we have Access
Through Christ we have Access
1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
The Gospel is a Message of God’s Grace
The Gospel is a Message of God’s Grace
Grace is
++God’s unmerited favor
++God’s empowerment to live for him
++Grace makes salvation possible
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Grace is the destination
Grace is the destination
Grace is
++Where we stand
++Where we find Strength
9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
God gives more grace
God gives more grace
6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”
God is able to make grace abound
God is able to make grace abound
8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
How do we get God’s grace?
How do we get God’s grace?
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
There is an obtainable gift
There is an obtainable gift
Not by
++Position
++Power
++An abundance of Provision
Faith is God’s gift
Faith is God’s gift
Faith is the vehicle to grace.
++It make grace available
++It puts the grace of God in reach
11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.
