Do you want to used by God? | Luke 1:37-38 | Pastor Jose Brevil

Merry Christmas, everybody Merry Christmas. So excited to be together this morning as we study God's word. Let's pray father as we stay to your word. Now that your word not return void that your words are exactly what you have purpose for it to do and may you teach our hearts to be more like you and live for you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. Amen. So this morning I have a question for you. Do you want to be used by God? Do you want to be used by God and I want to look at a story with you about none other than Mary the Earthly mother of Jesus to see looking at her life story and see why God has used her to our story starts in Luke chapter 1 and we going to read the tea love verse 38, but our Focus this morning will be on verse 37 in verse 38. So let's read the story together as you follow along with me. It says in the six-month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth through a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph of the House of David and the virgin's name was Mary and he came to her and said greetings own favored one. The Lord is with you, but she was greatly trouble at the same and try to discern what sort of greetings this might be. And the angel said to her do not be afraid Mary. For you have found favor with God and be old you will conceive in your room and bear a son and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the son of the most high and the Lord. God will give to him the Throne of his father David and he will reign over the house of Jacob. Forever and his kingdom there will be no end. Look at verse 34 and Mary said to the angel. How will this be since I am a virgin? And the angel answered her the holy spirit will come upon you and the power of the most high will overshadow you there for the child to be born will be called. Holy the Son of God and be old you your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. for nothing is will be impossible with God for nothing will be impossible with God and Mary said behold. I am the servant of the Lord let it be to me according to your word and the angel departed from her father. Thank you for your work this morning. I met your teachers Lord God. Flu the story about this wonderful woman named Mary. Womb you favored. And you use to bless us. In Jesus name we pray. Amen, amen to the story here starts with Mary a young girl who was betrothed to be married. That means she was promised to be married and she live morally upright life where she really was pure and as you can see her heart, she was a young woman with trusted in God walk with God and because of that God favor was upon her and you see, plenty of time to keep referring to her to her values. And Mary was the woman that God chose to use and we see three things this morning. I want to show you for the story three steps to get ready to get you ready to be used by God three steps to get you ready to be used by God and again in the text and verse 37. It says for nothing will be impossible with God and Mary said Bo I am the Lord's servants. Let it be to me according to your word and the angel departed from her. So three steps to get ready to be used by God. The first one is simply this have on a fentech walk with God. Have on a fantastic walk with God needs to coincide with your actions. When you say that you are a Believer it needs to be real and that's why I hear it says the first step to be used by God to be favored to be blessed by God. The first step is for you to be authentic in your walk with Christ. Which all that Mary had a little fence take walk with god of time. It just referred back to her moral values to the fact that she was obedient. I know where there that you would see in the text where it says that she said no way. I am not doing this. But instead she was trying to understand because what was being asked of her just did not make sense.

As you see there as it didn't make sense. So she was just very humble and was just asking how could this be? Because she knows that she's never been with any man and now being betrothed to be married and now you telling her she's going to have a child. She never say no way you going to mess up my rap. You don't mess up my reputation. No, no, no. No, that's not going to happen though. I don't want this. No wearing that extra see her all that you see they're talkin about her how she was favored how she lived morally upright life how she was humble. You see a lot of people like to say, oh, I'm highly blessed and highly favored, but they not walking with Christ. Every word that comes out of their mouth is a lie, or they just living in all kinds of sin and then they saying that I'm highly blessed and highly favored. No you're not. Play Mary was highly blessed and highly favored because she was offended taking her walk because she was truly Walking with God and when it do Bible talks about being blessed and highly favored is that you walking with God that God can use you is that God will not ignore your God will use you. God will use your life to be a blessing to others. It's done. So I'm going to get a hold of money that I need. I'm going to get everything that I need. I'm going to get the house that I want. Everything will be great in my life. That's not what I lie blessed and highly favored is when you look in the text when he says that she was favored by God. It was because of her walk because she was living a morally upright life because she was obedient to the calling of God in her life. That's why she was favored. So the first step for us to be ready to be used by God is that we need to have an O fent aquatic with him. There is no substitute for having an open take walk with him and take what makes you attractive for service. If you're not walking with Christ your life is not attractive for service. You see Mary's life was attractive for service because God could use her because when she said was an angel everybody would have to believe that it wasn't in. Because they know her moral character as opposed to God using somebody that was promiscuous. You see here God use her because she had an open take walk. She had a good track record because people know about her life. Ciento veinte Quark makes you attractive for service. But if you say one thing and if you do another God cannot use that. Seek God is looking for people wore tentically working with him so that he can use them to bless others. You see a whole generation a whole people all of us you are blessed today because of Mary's Cundiff because of Mary's obedience because of Mary's humility. And God used her. You see there's no substitutes for Godly like you have to walk with him. God calls us to walk with him. There is no other way to be used by God. That's where it starts. It starts with our walk with him is he there are some blessings and favors that God cannot be still on you unless you walking Faithfully with him to God could not have used any other woman. Got to use somebody like Mary because she was truly blessed and favored because she was walking with God you see your work matters your walk with Christ matters because there are some blessings and favors. God cannot give you unless you walking Faithfully with him. The second thing is not only that you need to have an offense take walk with Christ. You also need to be available. You need to be available to him as you see when God told Mary that she was going to have a child in her question was how can this be? But then when the angel explain to her all day. She said was I am the Lord's servant Let It Be unto me according to your word. Is he forgot to just do you have to be available to him and some of us are so busy and so distracting the Lifeguard cannot use us because we don't make any time for him. We don't when we read the Bible we get convicted by scripture when God puts a desire and are hard to do. We just forget it 10 seconds. Later. Because we sort distracted because the moment we just read what you think about her Bible and then we get on Tik-Tok and then all of it all all that. We just ready just gone it it just because it's no longer there because we forget to pray about what we just read and see what God will do in our life. So another for God to use us we have to be available just like Mary was available as she responded to the angel behold. I am the Lord servant let it be to me according to your word to God. If God will call you right now. I want you to be a missionary in Africa. Are you ready to say to God? I am your servant let it be to me. You have set.

So think about this young lady. She said I am your servant and it'll be just a very small things 80 big me. See the next time you speak to that person that you always tell lies tell the truth. Nothing that guy's going to call you eight in your workplace Beyond example, so that everybody knows a that that that person here. He's reliable I can count on that person forgot. He's asking you to live a Godly life in your workplace in your community. Calling you to be generous when you go to the restaurant and then the server serve you and then you give them a generous tip. Is those things that God is calling us to do today? It is very simple things, but it's like I don't know just going to give them 5% Hey, you don't know it's just you just put it down on the table. Then my testimony. Are you giving to that person when you telling them that you you are a Christian, but you cheap. k No not no. Does it make a bigger impact than you even give them more than 20%

More than 18% and then you were kind you were not grouchy at the table when they brought the wrong food to the table, you said.

Or was it like? Oh, I'm so sorry. It seems like we made a mistake and sent that that's not what I ordered. You know, is it okay that I can get something else? You see the attitude how different it is. You see when you act like that. Then you make yourself available because not that person might have had a problem. And then now when they see that you are so kind and then now they're saying thank you so much for being so kind that, you know, a lot of people would get so mad but you were so kind with me now. They just open the door for you to share the gospel. Say oh, oh, no. It's nothing. You know, I don't have any problem. Just waiting. You know, God has been so patient with me. So that's why I can be so patient when things don't go my way. Because God calls us to be ambassadors for him wherever we go so we can share the gospel. See that's how God is asking us to be available to him by our walk as we walk with God and when we go when we treat people right when we are generous when we are kind when we are loving when you're living the gospel. Guess what we are making our self of valuable to God the three steps to be used by God first. We need to have enough entok walk with him second. We need to be available to him. And lastly we need to have the right attitude. We need to have the right attitude and I'm sure you've always heard it said before attitude is Everything attitude is everything see if you ask somebody for a favor to help you with something and if they didn't do it with the right attitude, are you please? You wish that you did not ask. But if the person has the right attitude it makes you feel good. Speak that's why we cannot be grouchy with God when God calls us. We need to have the right attitude and do it with the right attitude. Whatever. God has called us. What did Mary said? I am the Lord's servant let it be to me according to your

Did you get grouchy attitude there? Did you see an attitude? That sounds like I know better than you God. But she was ready to serve she had the right attitude attitude indeed is everything trust God. I trust that God knows what best and can work miracles the Angels just ask her something impossible. But if you are a Believer, you have to trust God for the impossible. See when you come to God's word and God ask you something. That is just like oh, there's no way I can do this. Are you going to trust yourself? Are you going to trust the scripture when God calls you to do something. Guess what God will equip you to do what God has called you to do. See one God has called you a I want you to trust me. I don't want you to go out and in lie on this paper so you can get qualify for this car or get qualified for this house. But the guy says 8 I want you to be honest. Did you believe that I can still give you a car? I can still give you a house with our just giving falsifying information?

Do you think that's the thing that in everything we need to have the right attitude to our walk with Christ matters and it will show up in our attitude and then our service the way that we walk because what seems to be impossible to men it is possible with God and that's what we saw in the story. Mary did not understand it. Mary did not see. How can this be?

But she was willing to wait and see what God will do. She was willing to be that vessel that God wanted to use you see another for you to be ready to be used by God. You need to have the right attitude trust God even when it doesn't make sense. Can you trust God even when it does not make sense? You had a very good job that you love that you enjoy and now I got it's telling you a I want you to move somewhere else. Yeah, I want you to go go help a store to church. I want you to go ahead and start the program for kids in that Community. Are you ready to be used by God? Do you trust God that God will still provide for your needs even when you just said left your dream job. The little things that God is calling us to do we have the right attitude. Do we have the right attitude while we often take in our walk? Because when we are authentic an hour, we are attracted for God to be used and when we make ourselves available, then we saying God hate i m yours. I want to be your willing vessels don't act as if you know better than God don't ask. Act as if you know better than God, is that what most of us do

You read the Bible. You see exactly what it says. And then you just go out and you do exact opposite of what the Bible just told you to do. right Thank you. What other person in the room and she's a visitor Hallelujah?

That's why God is calling us. We need to have the right attitude. We should not act as if we know better than God and we do it all the time. We do it everyday see what does God says God says to love others, right?

Okay. Yeah, I love my friends k, I love my family. But God also says love your enemies. So, do you know better than God that you choose not to love your enemies?

Does the Ironworks? God says honor your mother and your father for this is right. This is the first commitment with a promise Does God says 81 your honor your father and your mother you will live a long life. How many times have we dishonor our mother and our Father? God says do not make any Idols before me how many times TV kept us from going to church cave TV kept us from fraying TV kept us from

the important things in life She got this don't make any Idols, but what do we do? We make Idols how many times will make our job a priority we make our own desires priorities over what God calls us to do. Should I keep going? Are you feel convicted already? Convicted. All right. See still that's why God called us to do things really just in a nutshell. Is this do you want to be used by God this Christmas? See Christmas is about service see Mary gave herself as a servant to God then God used her. Why did God use her because she was a fantastic in her walk with him. God used her because she made herself available to be used and also she had the right attitude then what can we say of Mary? She was blessed and highly favored. Why because she was a fanfic in her walk. She was available to be used by God and she had the right attitude. So next time you hear. Somebody said I'm highly favored and blessed. Are you working? Honestly, we've got do you think God's words seriously? What are you doing for God are you serving God right now? How do you make yourself available to serve God?

At what altitude do you serve God?

And see what they say. Then you can remind them a being highly blessed and highly favored means that you are ready to be used and serve my God. Look at Micah 6:8 he has told you. Oh man. What is good? And what does the Lord require of you? To do justice, that means you treat people right to do what is right to love kindness. To be gentle, loving and to do what they with me walk humbly with your God. We need more humble people today. So let this be our prayer today that this Christmas your goal is to be used by God and may your answer be like Mary's when God called you. Why don't you say you look 1:38 with me and Mary said Bo I am the servant of the Lord let it be to me according to your word. Let's say it one more time behold. I am the servant of the Lord let it be to me according to your word father. You heard our prayer. May you help us? Father to walk with you and to be used by you in Jesus name we pray. Amen. Amen.
