True Love

Meditation:

This is probably the best-known verse in the Bible. “John 3:16” is flashed in ball parks and memorized in Sunday school classes. Why is it so beloved? Because it tells us about God’s love – the reason that the Father sent his Son on Christmas day. “He gave his one and only Son” that Christmas morn. Why? Because he loved the world so much – not the physical globe, but the people whom he had created. Struggling, confused, exuberant, depressed, striving and sinful. He loved them. He loves us! That is why Jesus came. In the way Jesus relates to hurting people, we can see that love, that compassion. His gentle words – “my daughter” – to the woman who touched the hem of his garment. His encouragement to Peter who had betrayed him – “Feed my sheep, Peter, I haven’t given up on you.” His compassion for the crowds whom he saw as “sheep without a shepherd.” Jesus came on Christmas morn out of the Father’s love. And in spite of persecution and crucifixion, even a history of saints and sinners inside and outside of his Church, his love for us is undiminished this Advent season.

Prayer:

Father, thank you for your undeserved love that envelopes us and saves us, that fills us with your Spirit, and includes us in the momentous plans of your Kingdom. Thank you for loving us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Intro: some people make up their own god by putting themselves, other people or things above the True God, some worship gods made up by demons. some look at the true God and see Him as some one who can’t wait to to punish people.

Leading in Love

1 John 4:13–17 ESV

13 By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17 By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world.

Ephesians 1:13–14 ESV

13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

Romans 10:9 ESV

9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Confidence: Assurance of our Salvation

John 3:36 ESV

36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

Ill: I love how in this passage it said that we know we are abiding in him and it says only one thing in that passage that we need to do the rest is what He has done.

The world will tell you that you never reach God or in order to get to god you need to go though a mile of red tap.

But Jesus said whoever Believes In the Son (Which is Him) will have eternal Life.

Lavished Love

1 John 4:18–19 ESV

18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. 19 We love because he first loved us.

How do you see God?

Is He a being that can’t wait to bring the hammer down on you?

No! He loves you He sent His Son for you. and if accept him he will keep you from His wrath.

I don’t fear my Wife but I do want to want to do whats right by God and her.

This is why We love God

Conclusion:

The servant Freed by a rich man

This is why Jesus Came to earth. to free the slaves to sin that we might see what he has done and willingly give our lives to Him.
