Introduction:
I hope you guys are doing well, as we stand at the verge of a New Year, it’s a time of new beginnings and fresh starts. The past year might have been a mix of successes and trials, but as you venture on this new year, let's invite Jesus to be our guide and mentor.
Section 1: Reflecting on the Past Year
Let's take a moment to look back at the year that has passed. Think about the moments you felt close to Jesus, and times you might have strayed away. Remember, in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, the Bible tells us, "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." This verse reminds us that our lives are made up of seasons - times of joy, and times of challenge. Each season has its purpose in shaping who we are.
Section 2: Jesus as Our Guide in the New Year
As we step into the New Year, let Jesus be our guide. In the busy noise of your life, His teachings can be our guide but you have to allow that. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." These words remind us that when we place our trust in Jesus, He will direct our paths and help us navigate the complexities of life.
Section 3: Personal Transformation through Faith
The New Year is a perfect time to reflect on our personal growth. Ask yourself, "How can I become more like Jesus?" The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" This is the transformative power of faith in Jesus - it makes us new and changes us from the inside out.
Section 4: Practical Steps to Focus on Jesus
- Intentionally Focus on Jesus: Actively choose to center your life around Jesus.
- Daily Prayer and Bible Reading: Dedicate time each day to communicate with God and to read His Word.
- Regular Participation in Youth Groups and Church Services: Engage consistently in church activities and fellowship.
- Stay Connected and Grow: Use these practices to deepen your relationship with Jesus and strengthen your faith.
- Commitment Over Perfection: Focus on the commitment to grow closer to Jesus each day, rather than striving for perfection.
Final Question:
I invite you to reflect and ask yourself: 'In what specific ways can I invite Jesus to guide me more closely this year, and how can I commit to making these changes a part of my daily life?' Let's take a moment to consider this and consider how we can each make this New Year a journey of deeper faith and personal transformation with Jesus."
