Who is in control of your life? Who/what put your trust in? Look for peace?
During Covid, Watched as things people put trust in - Disapeared.
Today, God wants to ask us - Who is on throne of your heart - Who is really in control this Christmas
Title: Jesus is King
My Hope: Not just recognise Jesus as King | Make Him your king.

Welcome to Christmas Eve.
Last week - Put in new Story - Story has NEW KING - Understood by some, even at Birth of Christ, but is it understood by us?
Is Jesus on the throne of heart | If He is, implications?
Let’s begin in Matthew
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”
Your translation - Magi - More than 1 | Nativity = 3, however, unsure how many & where exactly came from | We know not judea | Best guess Babylon | OT, daniel = babylon, maybe remants.

First thing learning = Global story = Not localised
Jesus is King over ALL & Came to set captives free.
These wise men worshipped him, offered gifts.
And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.
Frankincense = High Priest
Myrrh = Balming Agent
Gold = Fit…for a King. at birth they knew = King.
We see Manger - Christmas = Baby - but make no mistake - K o K,
FF to Revelation
And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”
He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.
On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.
This is Jesus Christ = Rules over All, In Him all things Created
Christmas about this Universal King, taking on Likeness of Humanity.
Jesus left his throne for manger but never stopped being King.
However, not everyone happy.
If take step back | Before Wise men get here = They see King Herod.
What you need to know = Herod appointed by rome - Did not come from Royal line - Not legitimate king.
When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him; and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.
“All Jerusalem that was with him” -
Who assemble? People this would effect | illigitimate king will always find people that will follow lie.
Herrod…well is it true?
They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet: “ ‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’ ”
What did King do? Sent wise men to bethlehem to find child - Not to worship him, kill him.
Why was Herod worried about Jesus being king? It meant He might be dethroned.
Led to horrific events.
Didn’t matter what this TRUTH could bring - Power, Control = More important.
Some of us sit here - Hear about freedom that is offered in Jesus, and yet power + Control more important. why?
Pride doesn’t want you dethroned.
Here’s the problem;
Most of us love being our own king, and we are terribly afraid of being dethroned.
Hitler | Evil kings in Bible | More real? Husbands mistreating Wives | Unfaithful in marriage | Secret Sin
As soon as Truth gets near = Darkness shudders, scrambles, panics.
Not saying to condem | convict to bring you freedom |
Anyone else other than Jesus on throne of your heart = Trap = Today, TRUE KING, wants to SET CAPTIVES FREE.
She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
If want freedom - What do you have to do to be dethroned?
identify who the illigitimate king is in your life
Is it you? is it an idea? Gov? Who trusting for security?
Core of it, is peace = What ever you have put on throne of heart to provide peace, will fall short. but Jesus…
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
2. Identify what you are trying to control
Our fear of being dethroned is directly linked to our love of control and yet it is in surrender, we find freedom
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Usually we want to control, because we’ve put trust in someone else and been let down. | Some have very good reasons to want to control.
*my story of wanting control + Trust - Poor Father Figures | I’ll take control - Rely on myself.
Jesus Persued me | I surrendered I was dethroned |
Listen | Even when there was no way | God sent Jesus - Christmas should be reminder - No matter what, God made a way.
So what ever fear you have - You can hand it over - He will not let you down.
What will happen? If dethroned today?
Well
1. You’ll give control to someone you can trust.
You will let you down | Anything in this world, you put hope in, will let you down but Jesus…
And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Trustworthy, just because he said it? No trustworthy, because HE did it all!
You can trust Him, and you can trust HIS WORD.
You know - what we read earlier;
Matthew 2:6 (ESV)
“ ‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’ ”
prophesied 700 years earlier.
oh, and this isn’t only time.

2. Instead of looking down, you’ll be looking up
Even as baby - Jesus looked up - fast forward, washed disciples feet.
For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.
We live in a world where we need to be served | Jesus has this radical idea, no, we are the ones that are to serve.
**First Managers Role | Though I’d made it | no more work
Living for Christ is not baout being served | Serving - First Jesus, then those around us.
There is freedom, in a life of Service.
Dethroned? Looking up, not down - To jesus, and those around us.
3. Your worship will shift from yourself, to the King.
Look at Magi reaction;

Why, they knew in presence of the K o K who came to set them free.
You are in presence of the K o K who wants to set you free.
Herrod was scared because he was not legitimate king - You know deep down, neither are you.
Jesus is Legitimate King - He is your king or not, eventually will be.
Every knee will bow…
Last Question = Why would you trust Him?
Amazes me = Mary’s Response.
Angel comes - Mary Troubled - Angel Tells her nothing impossible.
And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
Her response “I am the Lords servant”
This before Jesus did anything - She had faith.
However, We get to look back | See Cross, Resurrection, Freedom.
Might be asking? What if he doens’t come through…well…Already has - Real question - how does your life change if He does?

What if today is the day - I am not in this life to be served - but to serve an Almighty God, because He did an almighty ACT, when He sent JESUS and that is what I am going to celebrate tomorrow.
Wake up | Gifts under tree | Take a moment to Worship, the greatest gift of all.
Because THE KING came down - Left Throne for a manger so he could die | You can have Freedom.
Because of that…you are blessed…
