Luke 2:1-20; The Coming of Christ pt 4

Sermon in a sentence: Jesus’ first coming should prepare us for his second coming.

Jesus’ Reception

Jesus came to a world plunged into sin and suffering.

This holy family was not experiencing the worldly benefits of royalty.

Jesus experienced the pain of sin more than anyone else. He new what it was like to come to a poor and needy family.

He knew what it was like to grow up under the threat of murder.

He new what it was like to have to live with a family that did not fully understand him.

He came into a imperfect family.

Our families are not too far gone for him!

Also, he came to create a new family, one which he will return for.

The shepherds were told to worship a lamb.

The king of Israel reject the true King.

Even Gentiles saw His light and worship Him.

Jesus’ Return

Jesus will return to a wrong world that he will make right.

Jesus’ came as the Lamb of God. He will return as the Lion of Judah.

Kings and rulers will be dashed into pieces in his wrath.
