The Offspring of the Woman

Genesis 3:14–15 (ESV)

The Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”

These are the words God spoke to the serpent. It was spoken after the serpent tempted Eve to eat the fruit that God had forbidden, the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

There will be enmity between the serpent and the woman, and between the offspring of the serpent and her offspring.

He(singular, masculine) shall bruise the head of the serpent, and the serpent shall bruise his heel.

And then who is the offspring of the woman?

1 John 3:8 (ESV)

Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.

And Galatian 4:4 says,

But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,

Hebrews 2:14 (ESV)

Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,

He shared in flesh and bood to destroy the devil through His death.

A prophet Isaiah who appeared about 700 years befor Jesus coming prophesied,

Isaiah 7:14 (ESV)

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Messiah will be born through a virgin. His name will be Immanuel. The meaning of Immanuel is ‘God is with us.’ A baby coceived by a virgin is Immanuel.

Isaiah 9:6–7 (ESV)

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

A child is born, to us a son is given. He is wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting father, King of peace.

John 3:16 (ESV)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 8:32 (ESV)

He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?

The child who was born of a virgin is the King of the Kindom of God in whic righteousness dwells.

The offspring of the woman is born.

John 1:11–12 (ESV)

He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,

They will call God ‘our Father.’ And they are children of God. God has mercy on His children.
