2 Corinthians 2:11 NKJV
11 lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.
They are two errors ( or two false concepts) regarding satan that are current.
First Lie
Satan doesn’t exist.
The Bible is very explicit about satan existing.
Some believe that Satan is no more then a bad influence, or a evil principle.
The Bible has just as much evidence of satan being a person as Christ being a person.
Gen. 3, Matt 4, Luke 4, Job 1,
To say Satan doesn’t exist you would have to deny the scriptures.
2. Satan is the direct cause of sin in every person.
Satan isn’t looking to promote sin. He wants to be like God. Like the Most High Isaiah 14
Satans not this fiend, or force of evil. Trying to get us to sin all the time.
Satan isn’t looking to destroy everything all the time. He wants to rule over religion, culture , Gods people, over morality. He cant do that if he just wants to destroy everything in his wake.
Just like a wicked king, a wicked king will murder but if he murders all his subjects he wont be a kind any more.
2 Corinthians 11:13–15 NKJV
13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.
So satan cares about the affairs of this world
Satan isn’t the direct cause of sin in our lives.
It is our OSN
Genesis 6:5 NKJV
5 Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Mark 7:18–23 NKJV
18 So He said to them, “Are you thus without understanding also? Do you not perceive that whatever enters a man from outside cannot defile him, 19 because it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and is eliminated, thus purifying all foods?” 20 And He said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. 23 All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”
James 1:13–16 NKJV
13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. 16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.
What is the work of Satan?
Isaiah 14:12–17 NKJV
12 “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! 13 For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’ 15 Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit. 16 “Those who see you will gaze at you, And consider you, saying: Is this the man who made the earth tremble, Who shook kingdoms, 17 Who made the world as a wilderness And destroyed its cities, Who did not open the house of his prisoners?’
The five I wills of Satan .
I will send into heaven - Lucifer at the time was already in heaven, so he’s not asking to be in heaven.
But he referring to his position in heaven. He wanted Gods position.
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God . - Satan wanted to be worshiped. He’s not just looking for the position but also the glory.
I will also upon the mount of the congregation - “ The mount of Divine Presence “ Its an appointed place where Moses would meet God . A place where God would commune with His people and Satan wanted that . A place where he would commune with people as if he was God . Also the mount is a place where everybody could see that hovers over everything and everybody .
I will send above the heights of the clouds - He will rise above every created being .
He didn’t want any parallels, he didn’t want competition.
He wanted the only spot.
I will be like the Most High - The Highest , He wanted to be the possessor of heaven and earth .
I will be like the Most High
This is Satans supreme motive after the fall!
He offered this to Adam and Eve Gen 3:5
Genesis 3:5 NKJV
5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
This idea that man could be God was passed down from generation to generation. This satanic idea transmitted to humanity. to the point where they are now considered children of wrath. Ephesians 2:3
Ephesians 2:3 NKJV
3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
Romans 1:18 NKJV
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
Its happening today.
Isaiah 14:17 NKJV
17 Who made the world as a wilderness And destroyed its cities, Who did not open the house of his prisoners?’
The prisoners are the unsaved. Satan is helpless to release even those who are under his influence and control.
Satan is doing everything in his power to keep the unsaved from being delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the kingdom of God’s dear Son. Col 1:13
Colossians 1:13 NKJV
13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,
He energizes the children of disobedience. Eph 2:2
Ephesians 2:2 NKJV
2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,
He blinds the minds of the unsaved lest the light of the Gospel reach them
2 Corinthians 4:3–4 NKJV
3 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
Satan also will promote extensive religious systems
1 Timothy 4:1–3 NKJV
1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, 3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.
The Destiny of Satan
Satan still has a access to heaven, he still has power, and he still has access to God. But limited and a short time.
1 Timothy 3:6 NKJV
6 not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil.
Ezekiel 28:15 NKJV
15 You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, Till iniquity was found in you.
2. A perfect judgement of Satan has been secured through the cross of Jesus Christ. But the execution of this sentence is for the future.
John 12:31 NKJV
31 Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.
John 16:11 NKJV
11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
Colossians 2:14–15 NKJV
14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
3. Satan will be cast out of heaven and cast to the earth during the Tribulation period.
Revelation 12:7–12 NKJV
7 And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, 8 but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. 9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. 12 Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”
4. Satan will be confined to the abyss. For the thousand-year reign of Christ upon the earth, Satan will be sealed in the abyss, after which he must be loosed for a "little season" (Rev. 20: 1-3,7). The purpose of putting him in the abyss is to make it impossible for him to be active and to continue deceiving the nations.
5. Satan's final doom will come at the close of the millennium. Having promoted an open rebellion against God during the "little season," Satan is then cast into the lake of fire to be tormented day and night forever (Rev. 20:10).
