In the first year of being a new parent, did you know that parents do on average about six google searches concerning their newborns health in a day? This is the fear based love that has really been eye-opening to me. Our daughter Olivia was born in September and just like all new parents, we completely knew what we were doing. We rushed out of the hospital after spending one night there with Olivia thinking we were ready to nurture her in our love. However, contrary to knew parents thoughts, it turns out that babies need more than just love and tlc
They also need the nutrition of mother’s milk. A few weeks go by and Abby quickly knew there was an issue with how Via was feeding. She was doing the best that she could but she needed her tongue and upper lip to be loosened. After seeing two different doctors, we knew this procedure would help Olivia. The day of the procedure, I got the smallest example of how God felt sending Jesus to the cross.
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Because of God’s love for us, he sent Jesus to the cross. Because of God’s love for us, he watched the nails get driven through his son’s hands. Because of God’s love for us, he watched his son breathe his last breath.
But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed.
But years before the crucifixion, because of God’s love for us, he sent us the savior as a baby. In the form of this needy baby, God has shown his love for us. His love overlooks our transgressions, his love brings peace to the world, and because of his love, we are healed. It is through a needy child that we are reminded of God’s love for us.
This is the kind of love God has for us. It is vastly greater than anything the world has to offer. God’s love for us covers all our stains, it covers over all of our wrongdoing. His love invites us to become children of God for those of us who receive him. It can be daunting to accept this kind of love that overlooks all of our sins. But I can assure you that it is real. It is a heavenly type of love that willingly sent Jesus to the darkness so that we could live in the light of his presence forever.
