Introduction.
Time flies so fast. It was just a short three weeks ago, the 1st Sunday of Advent, the Gospels telling us to be watchful, Alert, and prepare for the ways of the Lord, and here we are, the 4th Sunday of Advent, the angle saying to Mary, Hail Mary Full of Grace. We know that Advent is a time to prepare ourselves spiritually to celebrate the first coming of Jesus and to be evermore prepared to meet him sooner or later at his second coming at any time. But you may be among the many for whom these four weeks of advent come and go before we can change anything. Either way, whether we feel we have prepared well or not, God never ceases to love us and is working in our lives to guide us to our final end in his presence, preparing us to come to him in worship and adoration freely.
Body
In our first reading Kind, David wanted to please God by building a temple for God, but God, through the Prophet Nathan, revealed to David that it was God that has been working in David’s life to make him the successful King that he was and making his Kingdom to last forever. And when King Davids heard this wonderful revelation, he may have responded with the Psalm, “Forever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.” Likewise, In our Gospel, the Angle Gabriel was sent to reveal to the Virgin Mary that God had prepped her full of Grace, Immaculate, sinless to bear Jesus, the Son of God, the savior of God’s people by the Holy Spirit. And Mary's response to this wonderful revelation was, behold, I’m a handmaiden of the Lord. Let it be done to me according to your will. Later, she proclaimed, “My Soul Proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my Spirit rejoices in God my savior.”
Conclusion.
And so, with each of us, God is working to prepare us for that special purpose and end with him when we cooperating with God. So when we come to celebrate Christmas Mass this evening or tomorrow, we can be prepared when we come, in faith and trust that God will complete the good work he has already started in us. We can be prepared when we come with humble and contrite spirits to receive the Baby Jesus in our heats, willing to do his will, learn from him how to become childlike, for the kingdom of heaven is of these he said. We can be prepared when we come believing Jesus is risen from the dead, alive and present with us, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, in the Eucharist to unite us with himself and each other and trust he will come again in glory. And we can be prepared when we come ready to sing his praises, joining our voice with Mary, the angels, and the saints singing, “My Soul Proclaims the greatness of the Lord my Spirit rejoices in God my savior,” and “Forever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.”? AMEN. +
