Christmas Communion

Like the song Tiny Redeemer we just sang – the purpose of your birth was for the redemption of the world through your sacrifice
God incarnate –
He became fully man while remaining fully God so that we could identify with Him – He was tempted like all of us but chose not to sin – so He could be the perfect sacrifice for our sin
Emmanuel – God with Us
John 1:1 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 – And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Hebrews 1:3 – He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
Christmas without the cross is just a nice birth announcement –
God’s Gift to Us – Love – Love that left heaven with one mission – bring us back to the father and that was through a sacrificial death
The cross without Christmas is just a good man – who did good things and taught a good message.
God becoming incarnate – could die for our sins and raise to life on the 3rd day.
This is why we celebrate – this is why the real reason for us celebrating His birth is so joyous – it promises us an eternal life in Heaven with our Father
Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The song after communion is called I’ll Make it ‘Bout You – the story of Your birth and how You saved our lives
He saved our lives by coming to go to the cross – If you knew in 3 years you would go to Denver and die a long painful agonizing death for something you never did – would you still go to Denver –
Jesus knew – He taught about it – He connected the Passover when the angel of death passed over God’s people in Egypt – now death has no sting on the soul – on the eternal
1 Corinthians 11:27-29 Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself.
1 Corinthians 11:23-26 – For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
Let us Pray –
In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
Let us Pray –
